Gladys L. Wachsmuth, age 82 of Clintonville, formerly of Sun City, AZ, passed away early Friday morning, October 7, 2016 at Shawano Health Services, Shawano.
Gladys Leona Wachsmuth was born October 5, 1934 in Owen, WI, the daughter of the late David & Selma (Franz) Churkey. After graduating from Owen High School in 1953, she moved to Illinois to work as a secretary. While in Illinois, she met and married Leo Wachsmuth in 1955; five children followed. The couple moved to the Bear Creek area in 1968 and Gladys later worked at the Hortonville Toy Factory. She decided to go back to school to earn her Associates Degree from Fox Valley Technical College, Appleton; later working as a office assistant at Sunny View County Healthcare Center, Oshkosh. Gladys retired in 2000 and relocated to Sun City, AZ; and moved back to the Clintonville area in 2013. Gladys loved embroidery and cross stitching, as well as playing cards, canning, and reading books. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook, a tough and determined individual, and above all as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Grandchildren: Holly (Brad) Kluz, Derek (Cheryl) Meyer, Paul Wachsmuth, Justin (Ann) Fisher, John Wachsmuth, Lee (Kristin) Wachsmuth, & Michael Wachsmuth
Great-grandchildren: Brianna, Jennifer, Morgan, Austin, Parker, Brooklynn, Bob, Clara, & Leo
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a great-grandson, Christopher.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 – 3 PM, Friday, October 14, 2016, at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville. Inurnment will follow at Appleton Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be directed to your local Humane Society in honor of Gladys.
The family would like to send a special thank you to ThedaCare at Home Hospice and Shawano Health Services for the loving care given to Gladys and the support of her family during her stay.
