Martin then began delivering Christmas trees for Bill Arneson in town before joining Clintonville Distributing as a beer salesman in the mid 1960s. When the business changed hands years later he began working in Shawano for Travis Distributing and later for Miller Distributing; retiring in the mid 1990s. Martin loved to spend time camping with family and friends on his property along the Embarrass River.
