Vernon F. Krueger

July 15, 2015

Vernon F. Krueger, age 95 of Marion, went to his heavenly home Wednesday morning July 15, 2015.

Vernon was born at the country farm home in the Town of Dupont in Waupaca County on April 27, 1920 as the son of the late Arthur and Ida (Begrow) Krueger.  Vernon was raised in Dupont for 17 years before the family moved to Fond du Lac in 1937 to help run a hotel.  In 1938 they moved to Wausau where the family rented a farm.  Arthur & Ida moved their family back to the original homestead in Marion in 1940.  In 1941 Vernon bought a milk route and peddled milk for 12 years.  He was united in marriage to Lucile Mielke on September 5, 1945 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marion.  The couple lived and farmed the original homestead on Hwy G outside of Marion and continued peddling milk until 1953.  Vernon and Lucile bought the Fred Poppe farm across from the Roseland Cemetery in 1959 and raised their five children there.  In 1978 they moved into the town of Marion.  Lucile preceded her husband in death on September 27, 1998.  Vernon enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  He was faithful in attending church as a member of St. John’s and enjoyed reading daily devotions.  His hobbies were playing cards, dartball, horseshoes, bean bag toss, welding and creating new inventions, setting puzzles together, watching game shows on TV, and regularly attending many Farm Progress Days.
