Joann R. Schroeder 
Joann R. Schroeder, age 78 of Clintonville, WI passed away Sunday evening July 20, 2008 at the Pine Manor Health Care Center in Embarrass, WI. Joann was born on May 2, 1930 in Green Bay, WI. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Mabel (Bauerfeind) Wendt. Joann graduated from the Shawano High School in 1948. Around that time, she met John Schroeder at a basketball game and the couple were united in marriage on August 22, 1953 at the St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville. As a member of St. Martin, Joann has served the Ladies Aid for 31 years and also was a volunteer for the Altar Committee for many years. She was a servant in her community as a member of the Clintonville American Legion Auxiliary for 50 years, as a Clintonville Lioness, as a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program, and volunteered as a driver with Waupaca County Social Services and the C.O.P.S. Program. Many will remember her as a Christian woman who served others and loved being around her family. Survivors include: Her Husband: John. A Daughter: Jane (Norbert) Gebert, Neenah. 2 Sons: Jeff Schroeder, Clintonville. Jay (Rebekah) Schroeder, Neenah. 7 Grandchildren: Nicholas, Christian, & Andrew Gebert, and Nathan, Christian, Amber, & Jennifer Schroeder all of Neenah. Joann was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Julie, and a son Jody. Funeral services will be held Thursday July 24, 2008 at 11 AM at the St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville with the Rev. Daniel Burns & Rev. Christian Burg officiating. Delores C. Fandrey Delores C. Fandrey, age 86 of Clintonville, WI passed away Friday morning July 18, 2008 at the Shawano Medical Center in Shawano, WI. Delores was born on June 28, 1922 in the Township of Larrabee, Waupaca County, WI. She was the daughter of the late Jay and Anna (Huettl) Zehren. As a lifelong resident of Clintonville, Delores graduated from Clintonville High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1938 at age fifteen. She then attended Oshkosh Business School returning to Clintonville where she was employed by Clintonville Public Schools for 39 years as the financial secretary retiring in 1984. On August 8, 1945 Delores was united in marriage to Fred “Fritz” Fandrey in Clintonville. Fred later preceded Delores in death on April 13, 1985. Delores was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville where she spent time as the Bookkeeper for the St. Rose School. She was also a member of the Clintonville Women’s Club and enjoyed bowling and spending time at their family’s cottage on Lac Vieux Desert. Survivors include: Her Son: James and his wife Diane (Frisinger) Fandrey, Watersmeet, MI. A Grandson: Scott and his wife Aimee (Alvstad) Fandrey, Swansea, IL. 3 Great-Granddaughters; Peyton Elizabeth 9, Riley Alexandra 7 and Kamyrn Olivia 4. Her Sister: Jeanette Orr, Bear Creek. She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, and a brother Robert Zehren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 23, 2008 at 11 AM at the St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville with the Rev. Jack Mularkey officiating. Gene Hicks 
Gene Hicks, age 85, of Clintonville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the Shawano Medical Center. Gene was born on February 11, 1923 in Taylorville, IL, the son of the late Oral and Ruth (Abbott) Hicks. He was raised in Chicago, later serving his country in the U.S. Army from March of 1942 until his discharge in March of 1946. He returned to Chicago where he married Mary Rusniak on April 7, 1961. The couple continued to live in Chicago where Gene was employed as a salesman for I.B.M. then for Seagram’s Distillery. He later worked as a self-employed driving school instructor for 8 years. The couple later moved to Pulaski, WI. After Mary’s death on October 6, 1989, Gene moved to Paducah, KY then back to Pulaski. On May 21, 1997, he married Marjorie Hein in Clintonville where the couple has lived all of their married life. Gene was a past member of the Lions and Eagles Clubs, the Moose Lodge and the American Legion all in Pulaski. He also was a member of the Christ Congregational Church, U.C.C., Clintonville. His hobbies included entering sweepstake drawings and listening to polka music. While living in Chicago, Gene enjoyed playing drums in various polka bands. Doris A. Behm Doris Arlene Behm, age 84, of Marion, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center, Clintonville. Doris was born on October 1, 1923 in Appleton, the daughter of the late Arthur and Clara (Herzberg) Baerenwald. At the age of 10, her family moved to a farm in the Township of Almon, Shawano County. On November 1, 1947, Doris married Lyle Behm in Marion. The couple farmed in the Township of Grant, Shawano County for many years. Lyle preceded his wife in death on January 6, 1985. Doris moved to the Township of Larrabee, Waupaca County and in 2004 moved to Marion. For a short time, she had worked in the kitchen at Clint-Mar Supper Club. Her hobbies included flower and vegetable gardening, crocheting, playing piano, bowling and yodeling. Roger D. Hackbarth Roger D. Hackbarth, age 61 of the Township of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, WI, formerly of Milwaukee, WI, passed away Thursday morning July 10, 2008 at his home. Roger was born on October 14, 1946 in Milwaukee. He was the son of the late Fred and Angela (Brighum) Hackbarth, Jr. Roger grew up in Milwaukee where he graduated from Rufus King High School in 1965. Shortly thereafter, he was called to serve his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Roger was united in marriage to Bonita Bertschinger on April 18, 1966 in Milwaukee. Upon his return from the Army, Roger worked as a steel worker for A.O. Smith in Milwaukee for 33 years retiring in 1998. The couple moved from Milwaukee to West Bend, WI in 1988 where they resided until recently moving to Belle Plaine to be near family. Roger enjoyed painting, especially saws, and was an avid muskie fisherman. Survivors include: His Wife: Bonita “Bonnie” Hackbarth. 2 Daughters: Lisa (Special Friend Mike) Lesko, Davenport, IA. Susan (Special Friend Frank) Dettmann, Marinette. Roger C. Ridderbush Roger C. Ridderbush, age 68 of the Township of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, WI, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday July 9, 2008 at the Maple Lane Health Care Center in Belle Plaine where he had been a long time resident. Roger was born on November 21, 1939 in Perham, MN. He was the son of the late Gustav and Lynda (Heger) Ridderbush. Roger spent his early life in Perham before moving to Clintonville, WI with his parents in 1949. He was confirmed on January 27, 1963 at the Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville where he was still a current member. In the late 1980s Roger moved to the Maple Lane Health Care Center in the Township of Belle Plaine where he has lived since. As a young man, Roger greatly enjoyed his annual trip to Keller’s Lake Day Camp. He also loved animals and watching T.V. Survivors include: Several Nephews and Friends. Roger was preceded in death by: his parents, Aunts, Uncles, & Cousins. Douglas R. Mayne  Douglas Raymond Mayne age 80, 419 W. Ramsdell St., Marion, WI passed into eternal life Wednesday July 2, 2008 at Living Tree Estates, Greenville, WI where he had been a resident since April, 2007. Douglas was born into earthly life on February 19, 1928 in Marion, WI, the son of Raymond Clifford Mayne and Nora Bazile Mayne.Doug grew up in Marion and was a 1946 graduate of Marion High School. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1950 with a degree in Economics and Finance, and membership in Theta Delta Chi fraternity.On August 20, 1960 Doug was united in marriage to Nancy Carolyn Froker, at the First Congregational Church, Madison, WI. Doug and Nancy lived in Caroline, WI for four years, prior to moving to Marion. Children born to Doug and Nancy were Lisa Carrie and Christopher Lowell.Doug was a lifelong, active member of the First United Methodist Church of Marion, where he held many leadership positions. He especially loved singing in the choir.Upon graduation from the University Doug was selected to be a part of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company College Training Class of 1950, and pursued that position until entering the United States Army in June of 1952 as a 2nd Lieutenant.Doug served the Army in Virginia and Korea, returning to civilian life in April, 1954. He continued his military service with the 84th Division of the United States Army Reserves, commanding military units in Wausau and Appleton. In 1978 Doug retired from the Army with the rank of Lt. Colonel.When Doug returned to Marion from Korea he found a new appreciation for the community values of his home town. He was deeply rooted in the history and ongoing life of the city of Marion and chose it as his home for the rest of his life. He joined his father at Mayne Auto Sales in Marion, becoming president when his father died in 1963. In January 1993, a celebration marked 60 years of operation for Mayne Auto Sales, Doug’s retirement, and the sale of the family business.After his retirement, Doug continued to use his educational and business background as an alderman of the City of Marion for 4 years, working primarily in the fields of finance and personnel. He was active in the Marion Economic Development Corporation.As Doug loved the Marion community, he also embraced the world community, expressing his interest in the enjoyment of travel, and fostering youth exchange experiences for high school students. He was involved with American Field Service for 10 years, and as a member of the Marion Rotary Club, he chaired the Rotary Youth Exchange Program for another 26 years. Doug’s passion for world understanding through these exchanges enriched the lives of these students, the host families, our schools, and the community of Marion. For his contributions to Rotary International Doug was named a Paul Harris Fellow.Doug served on the CESA Agency 7 school reorganization committee for several years as President. He became a member of Clintonville Lodge 197, Free and Accepted Masons in 1952 and was Master in 1960. He was President of the Waupaca-Outagamie County Automobile Dealer’s Association, and served on the Board of Directors of the Dodge Dealers Advertising Council.Doug’s family and his multitude of friends were central in his life. Gatherings of his extended family pleased him greatly, whether it was sharing old stories with his fraternity brothers, retelling military tales, or being with the many family friends he cherished. Doug was a legendary story teller and that voice will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.Doug was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law Burton and Opal Mayne, Oshkosh, WI; his brother Michael Mayne, Seymour, WI; his brother-in-law William Schultz, Appleton, WI; nephews and a niece.Doug is survived by his wife, Nancy; their children Lisa and Ron Steiner, Madison, WI; Chris and Dana Mayne, Mequon, WI; their grandson Brooks Douglas Mayne, Mequon, WI; his sister Mildred Schultz, Appleton, WI; his brother and sister-in-law Terence and Carrol Mayne, The Villages, FL; his sister-in-law Patti Farrell, Vonore, TN; and many nieces and nephews. Duane C. Krueger Duane Carl Krueger, age 82, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at the Shawano Medical Center. Duane was born on November 15, 1925 in Appleton, the son of the late Charles and Rosella (Behm) Krueger. He later attended and graduated from Appleton High School. Between January 28, 1944 until April 28, 1946, Duane served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. After his discharge from the service, Duane became a postal worker for an Appleton Post Office for 50 years until retirement. He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, Appleton. Duane enjoyed spending time outdoors and making firewood in the Township of Grant, Shawano County. Dorothy M. Fredrick, age 84 of Clintonville, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. Dorothy was born on February 11, 1924 in the Township of Matteson, Waupaca County, the daughter of the late Herman and Ella (Kruse) Ehlert, Sr. She was baptized, confirmed and married at the Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass. She married Gilbert Fredrick on June 12, 1943. The couple farmed in the Township of Larrabee, Waupaca County all of their married life. Gilbert preceded his wife in death on February 5, 1979. In June of 1979, Dorothy moved to Clintonville. She had worked at Baker Canning Company, Clintonville. Then in the laundry department at Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center also of Clintonville. Dorothy was a faithful member of St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville where she was active in the Busy Twelve, with bible study and the Ladies Aid. She also had been a Clintonville Lionette. Her hobbies included gardening, playing cards (especially “UNO”), crossword puzzles and watching westerns and Perry Mason on television. Joseph L. Ruch, Sr. 
Joseph “Joe” Ruch, Sr., age 80 of Embarrass, WI, passed away Friday morning June 27, 2008 at the Pine Manor Health Care Center in Embarrass. Joe was born on May 22, 1928 in Black Creek, WI. He was the son of the late John and Genevieve (LeMere) Ruch. Joe spent most of his life in the Embarrass area and as a young man was employed by Brauer’s Cheese Factory in Bear Creek for over 20 years. On August 28, 1954 he was united in marriage to Arlene Gehrt at the Zion Lutheran Church in Embarrass where he was still a current member. Joe also spent many years working for Waupaca County Highway Department retiring in 1990. Joe was a volunteer for the Embarrass Fire Department, and enjoyed participating in the Dartball League and Men’s Club at Zion. He enjoyed plowing gardens for his friends with his tractor, taking trips to the casino, and meeting his friends for breakfast every morning at the old Jerry & Pat’s Café in Clintonville. Joe loved his family and always enjoyed spending time with his 3 Granddaughters and his Grandsons-in-Law, especially when it would come time for Samantha to cut his hair. Survivors include: 2 Sons: Joe (Jeannine) Ruch, Jr., Embarrass. Randy (Anita) Ruch, Sobieski. 3 Granddaughters: Rachel Ruch, Embarrass. Jennifer (Jason) Pelishek, Seymour. Elizabeth S. Williams Elizabeth S. Williams, age 95 of Clintonville, WI, formerly of Wauwatosa, WI, passed away Wednesday morning June 25, 2008 at the Greentree Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clintonville. Elizabeth was born on August 27, 1912 in Dodgeville, WI. She was the daughter of the late Vivian and Emily (Strong) Williams. Elizabeth graduated from Milwaukee Downer College and later from UW Madison with a Master’s Degree in Library Science. After her schooling, Elizabeth lived in Wauwatosa where she worked as a librarian for Wauwatosa Public Schools retiring in the late 1970s. She was also a member of the Wauwatosa Avenue Methodist Church, and a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter A in Milwaukee. Elizabeth then recently moved to Clintonville to be near family as her health deteriorated. While in Clintonville, she received excellent care from the members of the Clintonville United Methodist Church which was greatly appreciated by her family. Elizabeth’s hobbies included traveling, vacationing in Door County, WI, reading, and listening to Classical Music. Survivors include: Her Sister: Harriet W. Edwards, Reedsburg. 3 Nephews: Robert (Diane) Edwards, Clintonville. John (Marjorie) Edwards, Highland, CA. Peter (Sandy) Edwards, Reedsburg. Nancy F. Thiel Nancy Wilber Thiel, age 66, of the Township of Waukechon, Shawano County, passed away of natural causes at her residence on Monday, June 23, 2008. Nancy was born on October 11, 1941 at her family home in the Township of Matteson, Waupaca County, the daughter of Florence (Carpenter) Wilber and the late Basil G. Wilber. Nancy married Allen W. Thiel on October 13, 1961 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shawano. Together they have four daughters. Nancy had lived in Embarrass between 1989 until 2004 when she moved to the Township of Waukechon. Mr. Thiel preceded his wife in death on March 6, 1996. Nancy worked for many years at Heartland of Shawano as a nurses aid which for her, was a labor of love. She later worked at the Menominee Casino where she was treated very well as her health faltered. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, bingo and enjoying her family. In earlier years, she was a top notch softball pitcher for the Clintonville Women’s League. Kyra J. Carrick Kyra J. Carrick, daughter of Jon and Jennifer (Boughton) Carrick, was taken to heaven prior to her birth Saturday June 21, 2008. She was the greatest blessing in their lives. Marion E. Holmes Marion E. Holmes, age 87 of the Township of Navarino, Shawano County, WI passed away Friday evening June 20, 2008 at the Birch Hill Care Center in Shawano. Marion was born on July 9, 1920 in Navarino. She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Lydia (Sherbeck) Robley. As a young woman Marion moved to Milwaukee, WI and was soon after united in marriage to Jack Holmes on March 8, 1948 in Navarino. The couple lived in Milwaukee where Marion sewed carpet for the House of Holmes carpet business. The couple retired in 1975 and moved back to Navarino where they were members of the Ascension Lutheran Church. Jack preceded Marion in death on September 19, 1989. Marion was affectionately referred to as “Mammie” by her great nieces and great nephews and always had cookies waiting for them on their visits. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers and birds, and also spent quite a bit of time on her garden. She enjoyed listening to Lawrence Welk music, was a good seamstress, and loved her cats. Survivors include: Her Sister: Alice (Jim) Mueller, Navarino. 3 Sisters-in-Law: Alice Robley, Clintonville. Lynne Holmes, Pennsylvania. Hildegarde Holmes, Milwaukee. Marion was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband Jack, a brother Elroy Robley, and a sister Leona Robley. Tony L. Frye 
Tony Lee Frye, age 47, of Clintonville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in Clintonville. Tony was born on June 8, 1961 in Waukeska, WI, the son of Marvin L. Frye and Carol (Vaughn) Davis. He was raised in Wisconsin Rapids and in 1978 served his country in the U.S. Navy for three years. Tony married Karen Disher on February 1, 1994. The couple first lived in Wisconsin Rapids eventually moving to Clintonville where they have lived the last nine years. Tony was employed at the Montour-Engel Heating & Cooling, Clintonville. His hobbies included golf and reading. He was a Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed football parties and spending time with his family and friends. Eloise R. Raschke Eloise Ruth Raschke, age 79, of Clintonville, formerly of the Township of Bear Creek, Waupaca County, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at her residence. Eloise was born on March 22, 1929 in Clintonville, the daughter of the late Henry and Agnes (Rades) Schley. She graduated from Clintonville High School, later attending cosmetology school in Milwaukee. On October 16, 1948, Eloise was united in marriage to Edward Raschke in Clintonville. The couple farmed in the Township of Bear Creek, Waupaca County for many years. Ed preceded his wife in death on January 12, 1995. Eloise served as Treasurer for the Township of Bear Creek for over 40 years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Township of Bear Creek where she had taught Sunday School and belonged to the Ladies Aid. Her hobbies included growing flowers, cooking, baking, catering to swimming pool parties at the farm and spending time with her family. Mindy Jo Krueger, age 29, of Clintonville, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 8, 2008 at her residence. Mindy was born on April 7, 1979 in Clintonville, the daughter of David and Jayme (Quandt) Krueger. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marion. Being raised near Marion, she graduated from Marion High School in 1997. She later worked for Waupaca County Department of Health & Human Services assisting the elderly and disabled at a group home in Clintonville. Mindy had attended school to reach E.M.T status later serving on the Clintonville and Manawa Ambulance Service. She had worked at Video Galaxy, Clintonville. Currently she was working at D.E.N. (Disabled, Elderly & Needy) Services in Clintonville. Her hobbies included riding motorcycle and spending time outdoors with her daughter, Jade. Janet K. Culbertson Janet Kay Culbertson, age 65, of Clintonville, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at her residence. Janet was born on April 26, 1943 in Madison, WI, the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Matthews) Henke. The family moved to Appleton where Janet graduated from Appleton Senior High. She later worked for a phone company in Appleton. On August 19, 1967 she was united in marriage to Clyde Culbertson at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton. The couple continued to live in Appleton until they moved to Waukesha. Three years later they moved to Clintonville where they have lived since. Janet had been employed with Clintonville Public Schools for 17 years as a Title One reading Aid. She was a member of the Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville where she was active in the choir and belonged to the Naomi Circle. Clarence "Bud" D. Retzlaff 
Clarence “Bud” D. Retzlaff, age 69 of the Township of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, WI, passed away Tuesday June 3, 2008 at his home. Bud was born on January 8, 1939 in Embarrass, WI. He was the son of the late Clarence and (Eleanor) Retzlaff. Bud Graduated from the Clintonville High School in 1957 and soon after joined the U.S. National Guard serving actively with the Army during the Berlin Crisis. Bud returned to the Cloverleaf Lakes area in the Township of Belle Plaine where he worked in the gas utilities field for the majority of his life. He was united in marriage to Shirley Dunston on March 31, 1979 in Clintonville, WI. The married couple resided in various communities before moving back to the Cloverleaf Lakes area upon retirement in 1994. Bud was involved with Little League in most of the communities he lived in over the years having quite a passion for baseball and softball. He also enjoyed fishing, and bowled a 300 game while bowling with his son and daughter-in-law in Sparta, WI. He was also a member of the Clintonville Riverside Golf Course where he managed a Hole-in-One on Hole #6 during couples league with Shirley. The couple also enjoyed traveling and would spend the winter months in Port Aransas, TX. Bud was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shawano and a member of the Clintonville American Legion Post #63. He also was an avid dog lover and liked to build crafts and play games. Survivors include: His Wife: Shirley. 2 Daughters: Vikki (David) Robokoff, Pulaski. Judi (Dan Switz) Dunston, Calgary, Alberta. Raymond "Bill" W. Zoern Raymond “Bill” W. Zoern, age 47 of Clintonville, passed away early Sunday morning June 1, 2008 at his home. Bill was born on June 20, 1960 in Marysville, CA. He was the son of JoAnn Zoern and the late Raymond Schlender. Bill was also later adopted by Wally Zoern. On January 30, 1981 Bill was united in marriage to Mikki Hulett in Clintonville. The couple had 3 children and were later divorced. On August 19, 2000 Bill was united in marriage to Sarah Utke in Shawano. Bill had worked for a period of time at the Homme Home for Boys in Wittenberg, WI as a counselor, and was most recently employed by the Oneida Casino in Green Bay, WI. He was a huge Brett Favre and Peyton Manning fan, and loved to spend time by the Ocean. He had a passion for the Lord and many were aware of his ability to talk. He also loved listening to music, playing guitar, collecting sports cards, and was a WWII History buff. Survivors are: His Wife: Sarah. Ronald Edwin Kriewaldt, age 63, of the Township of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, passed away Monday morning, May 26, 2008 at his residence. Ron was born on June 30, 1944 in Shawano, the son of Elsbeth (Siefert) Kriewaldt and the late Edwin Kriewaldt. He was raised on a farm in the Township of Bear Creek, Waupaca County. After graduation from Clintonville High School in 1962 he served in the U.S. Army National Guard until 1965. Ron was united in marriage to Susan Kasson in 1965. In 1980 he married Paula Olson. Starting in 1968, Ron operated a Morning Glory milk distributorship in Clintonville for twelve years. Between 1982 until 1994, he worked for Murphy Construction. He later owned and operated the Break-a-way Bar in the Township of Belle Plaine (Cloverleaf Lakes) for fourteen years. His hobbies included curling and golfing and cooking. Thelma C. Lindsten Thelma C. Lindsten, age 83, of Clintonville, passed away Thursday evening, May 22, 2008 at her son’s residence in Clintonville. Thelma was born on November 26, 1924 in Oshkosh, the daughter of the late Leo and Clara (Detert) Hetue. She was raised in Oshkosh where she later married Edward Carrick. The couple moved to Green Bay and later divorced. Thelma worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in the medical records department. On June 18, 1966, Thelma married Milton Lindsten in Green Bay. The couple moved to Clintonville where they lived the rest of their married life. Thelma was employed in medical records at Clintonville Hospital and then at area medical clinics until retiring from Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center, Clintonville. Milton preceded his wife in death on August 30, 1987. Thelma was an active member of the Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville where she belonged to the C.L.C.W. and the Miriam Circle. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society and was a Keller’s Lake Day Camp volunteer. Her hobbies included golfing and traveling. John E. Hogan John Edward Hogan, age 77, of Clintonville, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2008 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, King, WI John was born on October 17, 1930 in Clintonville, the son of the late Bernard and Gertrude (Dahm) Hogan. He later graduated from Clintonville High School. Between July 6, 1951 until June 20, 1955, John served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Clintonville and on October 18, 1958 married Nancy Flanagan at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bear Creek. The couple lived in Shawano for one year returning to Clintonville where they lived the rest of their married life. John had worked as a butcher for area grocery stores until becoming employed at the F.W.D. Corporation, now Seagrave Fire Apparatus, Clintonville for 26 years until retirement. John’s involvement in the community included a P.A. announcer for the Clintonville Athletics, served as team and league manager for the Legion Baseball team for many years, was V.F.W. softball tournament manager, was a member and past Commander for both American Legion and V.F.W. of Clintonville and helped with maintenance at the Clintonville Curling Club. He also was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. His hobbies included woodworking, watching western movies and was a Green Bay Packer fan.
