Garret Peter Bork

Garret P. Bork, age 91 of the Township of Pella, Shawano County, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at his home.

Garret Peter Bork was born on October 4, 1932, in the Town of Bartelme, Shawano County to the late Edward and Laura (Mundt) Bork. Garret was united in marriage on January 29, 1959, to Myrtle S. Bork in Shawano. After marriage, the couple lived in the Tilleda area for close to 18 years until moving to Shawano in 1978. Garret was a logger in his younger years and was employed at Torborg’s Lumber Inc. for many years until his retirement in 2005. He enjoyed going for coffee and breakfast while socializing with friends at the home plate café, cutting firewood, going to the casino and spending time with his family. His wife of 57 years preceded him in death on April 23, 2016.

Survivors include four children, Daniel (LaRae) Bork of Wittenberg, Sharlene Bork of Bonduel, Jacqueline Bork of Shawano and Bonnie (Russ) Cotter of Shawano. Garret was blessed with 2 grandchildren. Justin Cotter and Brittney (Jed) Cotter; One Brother, Armin (Joan) Bork of Antigo.    He is further survived by two sister-in-laws, Mary Bierman of Bryant and Donna Bork of Gresham; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Garret was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Myrtle; an infant Son, Kenneth: eight siblings, Ruben “Chip” (Marge) Bork, Lawrence (Dorothy) Bork, Melvin (Hazel) Bork, Vernon (Lois “Frenchy”) Bork, Burton (Barb) Bork, Edward Jr. (Alice) Bork, Hubert “Gus” Bork (Thomas Jerome Stone) and Bernice (Glen Sr.) Begrow.

The family would like to thank all the Nurses and Staff at ThedaCare - At Home Hospice and Home Care workers for the compassionate care given to Dad during his illness. 

A private inurnment will take place at Tigerton Union Cemetery at a later date.
