Frank John Gretzinger, Sr., age 87 of the Township of Waukechon, Shawano County, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Birch Hill Care Center, Shawano surrounded by his family.
Frank was born on September 15, 1923 in the Township of Crandon, Forest County, the son of the late John and Mathilda (Peterson) Gretzinger. He was raised and attended school in Forest County. Frank was drafted into the U.S. Army on April 1, 1943 and wounded in action in Germany, receiving a purple heart. On February 4, 1946, he was discharged and returned to his parents home in Clintonville. On September 27, 1947, Frank was united in marriage to Marjorie Danley at the Christ Congregational Church, U.C.C., Clintonville. The couple moved to Kenosha where Frank worked at American Motors. They later moved to a dairy farm in the Township of Waukechon, Shawano County where they have lived since. Frank was a very hard worker. He enjoyed working with cattle, working on his Christmas tree plantation, gardening, especially potatoes, and watching his crops and trees mature. Frank especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member and served on the board of directors for the Equity Coop, Shawano.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, Dorothy, Ruth, Anna, Deloris & Tillie, 4 brothers, Roy, Earl, John & William and a grandson Jeffrey Gretzinger.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the Calvary Apostolic Church, Clintonville with Pastor Sylvester Narlock officiating. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 A.M. until the time of the service.
Military honors will be provided at the cemetery by the American Legion Post #117 of Shawano.
