Donald H. Lichtenberg, age 88 of the Township of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 28, 2017 at ThedaCare Medical Center, Shawano.

Donald “Don” Henry Lichtenberg was born April 23, 1928 in Clintonville to the late Theodore & Louise (Lomker) Lichtenberg. He was baptized at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville, and later confirmed in his faith at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Island, IL, where the family had resided for a time. The family returned to Clintonville. After graduation in 1945, Don enlisted in the U.S. Navy; first stationed in San Diego, CA, then Seattle, WA, and finally on the island of Guam where he served at the Naval Dental Clinic. He received his honorable discharge on April 29, 1949. In the summer of 1949, Don met his best friend Juliette “Julie” Vogel; the couple was united in marriage on June 2, 1951. Don was in sales in Clintonville from 1949-1957. In the fall of 1957, he worked for Sales for International Multifoods, Minneapolis, MN and the family moved to Edgerton, WI. He was later transferred to Sparta, WI where he worked for 8 years; later transferring to Green Bay where he worked until 1970. Don & Julie then purchased a grocery store in Embarrass, WI calling it Don’s Foods. In 1978, they sold the store and moved to the nearby Cloverleaf Lakes. Don went back into sales with Sales Force, a food broker out of Milwaukee working there until his retirement in 1990. Whenever they moved, they left many friends and wonderful neighbors behind, but still have many of those people in their lives. Don was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass, as well as a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #664 and member of the American Legion Post #63 both of Clintonville. He was also a firefighter for years with the Embarrass Volunteer Fire Dept. He has enjoyed his retirement at the lake, including many fun pontooning days and July 4th celebrations. He especially loved having his family and grandchildren with him. Don was a loving and caring husband, father, grandpa, and brother; he will be missed by all.

To my husband & best friend, our dad & father-in-law & the greatest grandpa,
