John L. Roe, age 87 of the Township of Neshkoro, Marquette County, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at his home.
John Leonard Roe was born December 9, 1931 in the Township of Liberty, Warren County, Indiana; son to the late Dennis A. Sr. & Ethel Roe. John grew up on a farm with a large family, where he learned the value of hard work. At 21 years of age, John chose to serve his country by joining the U.S. Army; he worked in food preparation at his duty stations. John earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal during his years of service. After his honorable discharge, John was united in marriage to Nancy Anderson on August 6, 1955 in New Hampshire; the couple later divorced. John worked over the years as a carpenter and brick mason. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing; he was also a good card player and loved to play cribbage.
John is survived by his daughter: Michelle (Jeffrey) Kraemer, Tigerton
Daughter-in-law: Julie Fry, Bear Creek
Grandchildren: Jack, Mason, Josh, Elizabeth, Jacob, & Keegan
Brother: Everett Roe, Clintonville
John was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Fry; siblings, Vesta Tayler, Frank Roe Sr., Emma Boswell, Marie Berndt, Sigrid Begrow, Dennis Roe II, & Larry Roe.
The family wishes to thank Dennis, Sharon, & their family, at Our House of Neshkoro, for all of the loving care shown to John during his time there.
Memorial services will be held 11 AM Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville, with the Rev. Diana Ziegler officiating. Military honors will be conducted following the service by VFW Post #664, American Legion Post #63, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit #63, all of Clintonville. Inurnment will take place privately at Langlade Cemetery, White Lake, WI.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service.
