Kenneth "Ken" Buchberger Obituary

Kenneth “Ken” L. Buchberger, age 86 of Clintonville passed away peacefully Monday morning June 18, 2018 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton.

Kenneth Louis Buchberger was born on June 14, 1932 in the Town of Larrabee as the son of the late Roy and Effie (Nagel) Buchberger. Ken attended Kindergarten in Embarrass and 1st-5th Grade in the Town of Hutchens at Shady Nook School. As a young man he finished his schooling of 6th -12th  Grade in Clintonville where he graduated from high school in 1950. While in high school Ken played football, baseball, and in his time away from school he set pins at Donaldson Alleys. After schooling he worked for Louis Thompson & Sons Concrete Work prior to being drafted into the United States Army in 1953. Ken was honorably discharged from his service in 1955. On December 12, 1955 he began his career at Four Wheel Drive (now Seagrave) in Clintonville where he logged nearly 40 years prior to his retirement on March 31, 1995. In his younger years Ken played baseball for the Clintonville A’s from 1956-1959 when he broke his ankle. He married the love of his life, June Rose Ebert on June 6, 1959 at the St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville. Ken was confirmed at St. Martin as a member on August 12, 1959 and has remained a faithful member ever since. He served the church as an usher for 40 years and also spent time on the Board of Elders. Ken umpired for Little League and BABA for over 20 years, and also served his community as a member of the Clintonville Fire Department for 19 plus years. Ken enjoyed watching sports of all kinds but especially high school and the city teams. He often could be found spending the winters ice fishing on the Pigeon Pond. Ken was the recipient of the Forgotten Person Award at the 2010 Jirschele Banquet. One of his fondest memories occurred recently as he was named the Parade Marshall for the 2017 Clintonville Fireman’s Festival. Ken is reunited with his wife June who preceded him in death on September 27, 2013.

Survivors include: His Daughters: Denise & Brenda (Randy) Buchberger.

Brother: Roger (June) Buchberger.

Sister-in-law: Jackie Ebert.

Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his wife June, siblings Carol (John) Pfeiler, Bill Buchberger, & Audrey Buchberger, his father-in-law & mother-in-law Herman & Alma Ebert, his brother-in-law Larry Ebert, and a special niece Julie (Curtis) Miller.

Ken’s funeral service will be held Friday, June 22, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Martin Lutheran Church with Rev. Brian Weber & Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Martin Cemetery also in Clintonville. Friends may call at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory in Clintonville from 4 – 9 PM Thursday and at the church on Friday from 9 AM until the time of the service. www.eberhardtstevenson.com
