LaVerne Alvera (Krueger) Sell

LaVerne A. Sell, age 89 of the Township of Larrabee, Waupaca County, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at ThedaCare of Waupaca.

LaVerne Alvera Sell was born on April 28, 1930 at home in the Town of Larrabee, daughter to the late Bernard & Olga (Wolf) Krueger. She was baptized at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville on May 25, 1930 by E.C.F. Stubenvoll; later confirmed on May 30, 1943. She graduated from Clintonville High School in 1947 and was united in marriage to Victor E. Sell on August 11, 1948, also at Christus. She was very active at Christus Lutheran Church. LaVerne taught Sunday School for over 20 years, a member of Daughters of Reformation, was vice president of the Christus Lutheran Church Women in 1980 and served with that organization for many years. With the church, she also served as chair-person of Leah-Lois C.L.C.W., and was the mission service chair-person of the C.L.C.W., from 1992 – 1994; she was also treasurer of the church in 2000. She was secretary of stewardship for the church in 1977, 1978, 1985, & 1986. LaVerne was the treasurer of Waupaca and the Federation of Church Women, 1980. In her younger years, curling was one of her favorite things to do; a member of the Clintonville Broomettas and treasurer of Badger Women’s Curling Assoc. 1982-1983. She was employed at Urban Telephone Co. from 1947 – 1951 and later worked for Dairy Queen for 10 years. LaVerne drove bus for the Clintonville School District for 4 years and did secretarial/receptionist work for Trapp Photography Studios for 8 years. In her spare time, LaVerne loved spending time outdoors gardening and fishing, quilting at church, and playing cards. Her favorite times were the moments she was able to spend with family.

Grandchildren: Jaclyn (Chris) Buday, Lisa Kendhammer, Joshua (Jamie) Dery, Jennifer (Christian) Bayless, Jason (Sonya) Orton, & Allyssa (Cody Prudoehl) Orton
Great-grandchildren: Elleana, Jameson, Quintin, Katherine, Jackson, Cian, & Tarek

LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor; a brother, Melvin Krueger; & her companion, Lyle Gluth.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville, with the Rev. Brian Crocker officiating. Interment will take place Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville following the service.

Friends may call on Saturday at the church from 9 AM until the time of the service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in LaVerne’s name may be directed to Christus Lutheran Church.
