Lois M. Winkel

Lois Marie Winkel, age 94 of Clintonville was called home to Heaven on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Kindred Hearts Assisted Living in Clintonville.

One of three daughters of the late Dora and Edgar Winkel, Lois was baptized at St. Martin Lutheran Church. She attended Clintonville Schools, graduating from High School as a member of the class of 1942 where she was chosen prom queen. Her class continued to hold class reunions up until last year. Lois’s career included work in California and Madison. She then returned home to care for her ailing father, Edgar. Lois resided in the family residence on 60 S. Clinton Avenue in Clintonville and was known for her love of cats; rescuing and placing many in their forever homes. She also cared for the birds and faithfully made sure they were fed.

Survivors include:

Nieces: Jane and Judy Steiner, Joan (Mike) Schultz, & Amy (Paul) Copps.

Nephews: John (Bridie) Steiner & William Elbert.

Also Cousins: Kay (Roger) Kuester Doran, Mary Beth Kuester, Carol Kuester Walker, Robert (Connie) Kuester, and Nancy Kuester Simmonds.  

Lois was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters; Eunice Elbert & Lucile Steiner.

Lois’s funeral service will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 12:30 PM at the St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville with Rev. Christian Burg officiating. Interment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery also in Clintonville. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Memorials to Happily Ever After No Kill Animal Shelter or St. Martin Lutheran Church are welcome along with the flowers Lois loved.
