Richard “Dick” B Kunz of Clintonville, WI passed away at age 81 on April 25, 2018 in Fort Myers, FL of complicated health issues.
Richard was born Sept-13, 1936 in Appleton, WI son of the late Charles & Esther (Krueger) Kunz. Graduated from Appleton High School 1954. After serving two years in the US Army Richard received his degree in Art Education from UW Milwaukee 1960.
He married Donna Blankenburg in 1959, his sweetheart of many years. Richard taught high school art in the Milwaukee Public School System. His love of art was drawing, painting, and cartooning.
Richard & Donna lived in Muskego, WI for 25 years. New Berlin, WI 10 years. In 1996 they built a new home on Cloverleaf Lakes which was designed by Richard. They also joined the Riverside Golf Club & St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville. He was past president of MATA (Milwaukee Area Teachers of Art), past president of Muskego Lions Club, & held different offices at Hales Corners Lutheran Church, Hales Corners, WI.
His favorite hobby was working on his Lionel train layout. The layout turned into a village that included 6 different buildings each named after his 6 grandchildren. Richard was an avid Packers and Badger fan. He also loved to travel with Donna. Their travels spanned much of the U.S. and 15 countries in Europe.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna.
2 Sons: Steven (Karin) Kunz, Franklin & Stewart (Janet) Kunz, Menomonee Falls.
A Daughter: Sandra (Todd) Vieth, Milton.
His 6 grandchildren were very special to him and he loved having fun with them: Kyle & Ryan Kunz, Milwaukee; Katherina (Brad Williams) Kunz, Franklin; Kayla Kunz, Menomonee Falls; & Cody and Cheyenne Vieth, Milton.
A Brother: Rodrick (Dorothy) Kunz, Oshkosh.
Brothers-in-law & Sisters-in-law: Pearl Kunz, Appleton; June Lowry & Phil Lowry, Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert, In-laws Myrtle, Arthur, Hilton, & Dorothy Blankenburg.
Dick's memorial service will be held Friday May 11, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville, WI with Rev. Christian Burg officiating. Military Honors will be conducted outside of the church following the service by members of the Clintonville American Legion Post #63, VFW Post #664, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit #63. Inurnment at Graceland Cemetery will follow the meal at the church. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 AM until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being setup in Richard’s name with the American Heart Association.
