Rueben C. Reinke Jr., age 77 of Marion, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton.
Ruben Curtis Reinke Jr. was born February 8, 1941 in the Town of Pella to the late Rueben W.P. & Mariena (Conradt) Reinke Sr. He attended school in Marion and graduated from Marion High School in 1959. Rueben farmed on his family’s home farm in the Town of Pella. He was united in marriage to Karen Kautz on June 26, 1966 at Zion Lutheran Church, Gresham. The couple purchased the farm and continued to work until Rueben’s retirement in 1992, later moving to the city of Marion. He was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Town of Pella for many years. Rueben was also a huge fan of both local and professional sports teams. He followed all of the Marion Mustang High School teams and rarely missed a game; he also loved to attend Brewer and Packer games. Gardening was something he really enjoyed; he always grew delicious tomatoes, potatoes, and had beautiful flowers. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren fishing, especially for mulley each year, and always cherished the time he would get to spend with his great-granddaughters. Rueben will be remembered as the “unofficial mayor of Marion,” because he seemed to be a walking encyclopedia of local knowledge and really did know everyone from the local area. He was a man who would always help folks when they needed it, whether it was family, neighbors in the apartment complex, friends, or anyone else for that matter.
