Ruth Marie (Lehne) Joy

Ruth M. Joy, age 87 of Clintonville, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Aster Assisted Living, Clintonville.

Ruth Marie Joy was born October 24, 1932 in St. Paul, MN, daughter to the late Frederick E. & Mae F. (Olson) Lehne. After graduation from high school, Ruth attended college at St. Cloud State where she earned a degree as a teacher. She taught elementary school in the Minneapolis area for a time. Ruth was united in marriage to Mark L. Joy in Wells, MN on June 13, 1964. The couple lived in a few different communities, and finally settled in Clintonville in the fall of 1972. Ruth worked as a librarian at the school for a time, and was later hired as a full-time elementary school teacher. She was a strong woman of faith, and was very active in her church life by volunteering on countless groups and committees throughout the years. After retirement, Ruth helped her husband by working part-time at his clothing store in town, The Stables. She enjoyed gardening, family vacations, was a great cook, loved music, and enjoyed the time she was able to spend with family. Ruth continued to show her strong faith, her humble demeanor, and her giving heart, right up until her final breath. She will be remembered for her positive and thankful outlook on life.

Daughter: Lisa (Mike) Jacobson, Eden Prairie, MN
Sons: Brad (Alison) Joy, Portland, OR & Chris Joy, Clintonville, WI
Grandchildren: Abigail, Brenan, Davis, & Anders
Sister: Lois (Reed) Weseloh

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Lolo; her husband, Mark L. Joy; a sister, Betty Reml; & a brother, Carl Lehne.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, December 13, 2019 at the United Methodist Church, Clintonville with the Rev. Diana Ziegler and the Rev. Skip Reeves officiating. Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville.

Friends may call on Friday at the church from 12 Noon until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ruth’s name are preferred to be directed to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
