Avis M. “Bingo” Campbell, age 83 of Black Creek, formerly of Clintonville, passed away peacefully Friday evening, August 5, 2016 at her home.
Avis Marge Campbell was born January 11, 1933 in Iola to the late Ed & Melinda (Olson) Knutson. She grew up in the Iola area and graduated from Iola High School in 1951. That same year on July 28th, she was united in marriage to Sylvester “Tubby” Campbell at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville and nine children followed. Avis worked locally as a nursing home nurse’s aide for many years, but her main role was with her family. She loved caring for her own children as well as all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren that followed throughout the years. Her greatest joy outside of her family was the game of Bingo. Affectionately known as “Grandma Bingo” or simply, “Bingo,” Avis played any chance she had; and never without her troll doll companions at her side. She will also be remembered for her skill with a crochet needle as well as her signature potato salad.
