Barbara Ann (Montgomery) Zera

Barbara A. Zera, age 73 of the Town of Matteson, Waupaca County, passed away September 2, 2022 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton.

Barbara Ann Zera entered God’s loving arms September 2, 2022, at age 73, with her devoted family by her side. Barb was born in Milwaukee to Orville and Patricia Montgomery. She met her husband, Bob, by chance when he saw her at the bus stop and offered her a ride. They fell in love and were married just nine months later. Together they raised four children, Jan, Joey, Billy, and Wendy. Barb’s life was devoted to her family. She was a homemaker and actively involved in her children’s activities. She chaperoned school events, volunteered at summer programs, and attended special events in support and of service to her children. Over the years she also babysat and cared for many of her grand and great-grandchildren. Her favorite times were when she was gathered with her family. She also held a special place in her heart for animals. She enjoyed the “deersy weersies,” birds, and all the critters that feasted on the goodies she and her husband would put out for them to enjoy.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Robert; son Joseph Zera (Michelle); son William Zera (Jessica); and daughter Wendy Larsen (Mike); grandchildren Stephanie, Dakota, Kara, Jadyn, Kacie, and Taylor; great-grandchildren Charlotte and Freya; her brother Wayne Montgomery, Sr. (Bunny), as well as many other dear relatives. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Patricia Montgomery; brother, Orville Montgomery, Jr.; sister, Florence McMurdo; daughter, Janice Zera; and nephew Wayne Montgomery, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville, with the Rev. Jill Meyer officiating. Interment will take place at Danish Cemetery, Township of Deer Creek following the service.

Visitation will take place on Thursday at the funeral home from 9 AM until the time of service.
