Bernice “Mickey” A. Hartleben, age 85 of the Town of Deer Creek, Outagamie County, passed away at her home Monday morning October 21, 2019.
Mickey was born on July 10, 1934 in the Town of Cicero, Outagamie County as the daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Hartl) Brugger. She graduated from Seymour High School in 1952. Mickey met Don Hartleben when the couple were riding school bus together. They were later united in marriage on November 4, 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Black Creek. As a young woman, Mickey started her nursing career in Chicago in 1953, and finished her schooling to become a Licensed Practical Nurse after starting her family. She worked as an LPN for Thedacare Clinic in Clintonville and later at the clinic in New London; retiring in 1994. Mickey was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and enjoyed western dancing with Don in the Leather and Lace Dance Club. In their younger years Mickey and Don enjoyed snowmobiling. Mickey’s faith was important to her and after the couple moved to the Town of Deer Creek, she became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bear Creek where Mickey sang in the choir and volunteered for numerous other activities. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Grandchildren: Henry & Samantha Hartleben, AJ Mackowiak, Keith Hartleben, Lexi & Myka Olsen, Noah Hartleben, Scott (Ashlea) St. John, and Josh Chambers.
Great-Grandchildren: Brenden & Kaiden St. John.
Also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
Mickey was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Louie, Lawrence, Robert, & Ray, and sisters; Marian & Dorothy, and one son-in-law, Mike Mackowiak.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mickey at 11 AM Thursday October 24, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bear Creek with Fr. Tim Shillcox officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery also in Bear Creek. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9 AM until the time of the service.
