Beverly Ann (Edwards) Kersten age 94 of Clintonville, passed away on November 11, 2020 at Shawano Place Senior Living in Shawano where she has resided for the past two years.
Beverly was born September 6, 1926 in Waupaca, the daughter of the late Ward and Muriel (Eaton) Edwards. She graduated from Waupaca High School in 1945 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education at UW- Stevens Point. Beverly’s teaching career spanned 33 years before she retired in 1989. She taught grades 1-8 in rural schools near Waupaca, first grade in Manawa and third grade in Clintonville. On November 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to Owen Kersten at the First Methodist Church parsonage of Waupaca and they enjoyed 61 years together. She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Clintonville and served as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and church librarian. Bev was actively involved with the United Methodist Women (UMW) organization. She served on the Clintonville Public Library Board, was a member of the Wisconsin Retired Educators’ Association (WREA), and delivered Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, spending time with her family especially birthday and holiday celebrations, going up north to the cottage near Land O‘ Lakes, and meeting friends for breakfast or lunch.
Beverly is survived by daughters: Peggy (Michael) Bevernitz, Clintonville, WI; Lynn (Kevin) Wege, Beloit, WI: 5 grandchildren: Andrew Bevernitz, Las Vegas, NV; Ryan (Katie) Bevernitz, Rhinelander, WI; Whitney (Andy) Eichholz, Appleton, WI; Kamey (Barry) Doetch, Poplar Grove, IL; William Wege, San Diego, CA. Two great-grandchildren: Clara Doetch and Charlotte Eichholz. brother : William (Hildene) Edwards, Springfield, OH
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Owen in 2011, four brothers Harold, Harlan, Aubrey, and Carroll and an infant sister Katherine.
A private funeral service will be held at the Clintonville United Methodist Church, 24 W. 13th street, Clintonville, WI. Pastor Diana Ziegler will officiate and inurnment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville following the service.
