Carol Joyce Buenning (Schmoll), 95 of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away on 11/13/2022.
Carol was born on Dec. 15, 1926 in Manawa Wisconsin to Herman and Martha (Jossie) Schmoll. She was baptized, confirmed, and taught Sunday school at St. Mark’s Lutheran church in Symco. She graduated from Little Wolf High school in Manawa in 1944. Carol and her parents moved to Clintonville in 1944, where she and her father both worked for the FWD. She met Robert Buenning and they were married on Nov. 16, 1946 at St. Martin Lutheran Church. During their life together they camped, golfed, skied, and traveled. She was active in St. Martin school organizations and the American Legion auxiliary. Carol worked as a meter reader for Clintonville Utilities until a large German shepherd took a bite out of her backside! She was a secretary for the school system and as a receptionist for the Clintonville Tribune Gazette. Upon retirement in 1987 they moved to Brooksville, Florida, where she was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where she was active in Ladies Aid, Mary Martha, and the coordinator for Thrivent. She was for many years a member of the Brookridge Golf Association and the Ladies Nine Hole club.
Survivors include her children; Barbara (Dennis) Peterson, North Port, Fl., Thomas (Cindy) Buenning, Waupaca, Wi., Jerry (Peggy) Buenning, Brooksville, Fl. And Bonnie (Ralph) Torbeck, Cecil, Wi.
Grandchildren; Christopher (Jada) Peterson, Green Bay. Matthew (Megan) Buenning, Wrightstown, Daniel (Ashley) Buenning, Waupaca, Jeremy (Melanie) Buenning, Shawano, and Lucas (Keli) Torbeck, Kalispell, Mt.
She is also survived by 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, a brother Clark, and two grandsons, Zachary Torbeck and Scott Peterson.
Carol’s funeral service will be held 11AM Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Symco, WI, with the Rev. Jeffrey Smiles officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Union Cemetery also in Symco.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday at the church from 9AM until the time of service.
