Caroldean Mehlberg Obituary

Caroldean B. Mehlberg, age 91 of rural Caroline passed away Sunday morning July 13, 2025 at Evergreen Health Services in Shawano.

Caroldean Barbara Boehler was born on September 20, 1933 in Clintonville as the daughter of the late Anton and Barbara (Korbisch) Boehler. She grew up in Clintonville where she graduated from Clintonville High School. As a young woman she started working at Seagrave FWD in Clintonville and was united in marriage to Lester “Pete” Mehlberg on August 4, 1956 at the St. Rose Catholic Church in town. A few years after marriage, the couple moved to the Town of Grant, Shawano County where they built their home and raised their family. Caroldean then worked for many years at the Post office in Caroline as Post Master Relief. Pete and Caroldean spent countless hours working in their garden and Caroldean babysat for many area children over the years. They were faithful members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marion where Caroldean served as a Lector, was a member of The Christian Mothers, and regularly attended Bible Study. Caroldean will be remembered as a “hugger”, known to have forced a few folks into the embrace over the years.  She also had the ability to whip up food for any amount of guests arriving at their home; whether she was expecting them or not. Caroldean enjoyed playing Scrabble, working on crossword puzzles, and was a real pro when it came to Sheephead; often yelling out that she was about to “do something foolish” as she grabbed the blind while holding a granny hand. Her family said she never told a lie and that Caroldean was strong and devoted to God, yet had the ability to remain humble about it throughout her life. Caroldean had many friendships that she cherished and they knew they could always confide in her.
