Dennis D. Owen passed away at his home in Wittenberg on his 70th birthday, Saturday March 2, 2024 under the care of his family and hospice.
Dennis was born on March 2, 1954 in Oshkosh as the son of Luella (Niebauer) Owen and the late Austin Owen. He attended school in Oshkosh and enlisted in the United States Army at age 17. Dennis served from 1971 until 1974 and was stationed overseas in both Germany and Korea. He earned his GED from the Army and after his discharge obtained a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from UW Oshkosh. Dennis worked at Oshkosh Truck for over 25 years prior to his retirement and was united in marriage to Carol (Menge) Hegewald on December 7, 2021 in Shawano. Dennis looked forward to hunting trips to Canada with his buddies and enjoyed bowhunting closer to home near Waupaca for many years. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. Dennis also enjoyed shopping and could convince himself to buy almost anything if it was a good deal; even clothing that was not his size. He was loved dearly by his family and friends and will certainly be missed.
