Doris M. (Durkey) Knaack

Doris M. (Durkey) Knaack, age 94 of Marion passed away Monday morning February 21, 2022 at the ThedaCare Medical Center in New London. 

Doris was born December 12, 1927 in the Town of Dupont, Waupaca County the youngest daughter of Albert and Erna (Bork) Durkey. She attended Lake Michael School thru 7th Grade and then went to Marion for 8th-10th Grade. On November 28, 1944 she married Delmar “Duke” Knaack at the parsonage of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marion.  She and Duke farmed for 7 years before they were married and Doris did housework in Appleton for a few summers. After marriage she worked at the glove and canning factories in Clintonville, the corn factory in Black Creek, and she really enjoyed meeting new friends over her 32 years as a bartender for local establishments until her retirement at the age of 62. Doris loved working on her landscaping; especially carrying stones from the barn foundation to create beautiful rock and flower beds. She enjoyed making apple pies for family and friends, bowling, playing cards, crafting, crocheting, braiding rugs, and taking occasional trips to the casino. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marion. 

Survivors include: 
Her Children: Dianne Schumacher, Denise Johnson, Dean (Diane) Knaack, & Duane Knaack.
A Daughter-in-law: Nancy Knaack.
Grandchildren: Terry (Cathy) Schumacher, Danielle (Josh Wojciechowski) Johnson, Benji (Kristen) Knaack, Angie (Jay) Harper, Shawn (Kathy) Schumacher, Sanya (Kevin) Prelipp, Sheryl (Terry) Pierce, Darcy Knaack, & Becky Hanstad.
Also numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Delmar “Duke” Knaack in 1999, a daughter Darhl Schumacher, a son Douglas “Duke” Knaack, grandsons Kevin and Scott Schumacher, sisters Esther, Evelyn, Helen, & Edna, and her brother Walter. 

Doris’ funeral service will be held Friday February 25, 2022 at 11 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marion with Rev. Lois Graper officiating. Interment will follow at the Roseland Cemetery in the Town of Dupont. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
