Doris (Luedtke) Plaster

Doris Plaster, age 96 of Appleton, formerly of the Town of Grant, Shawano County passed away Saturday morning, November 6, 2021 at Century Oaks Assisted Living in Appleton.

Life's journey ended for Doris (Luedtke) Plaster on November 6, 2021 at the age of 96.  She was born in the Town of Dupont on October 20, 1925 to Fred and Elsie (Lutzewitz) Luedtke. Doris married Millard Plaster in 1947.  Together they made their life moving to Milwaukee and then back to the Marion area in 1959.  Millard passed away in 2008.  Doris is survived by sons Collin (Cherie), Larry (Kathy) and Ron (Jodi). There are 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren along with nieces, nephews and one sister-in-law; Pearl.  At a young age Doris went to work during WWII in the Sturgeon Bay shipyard as a welder.  During her life she also worked as a telephone operator and at the Marion school cafeteria.  Doris enjoyed many things.  She tried never to miss a chance to play Sheepshead or watch her favorite game show Jeopardy.  Reading, gardening and all things family were very important to her.  Doris took great comfort in being outside in the natural world.  She loved song birds and in particular the wrens that built a nest every year in the house hanging in the maple tree. Doris had great empathy for all creatures and people who are less advantaged and suffer at the hands of others.  Doris was a kind and decent human being and the world is a lesser place with her passing.  Thank you to ThedaCare Hospice and the Century Oaks staff for their conscientious care for Doris in her final days.

A Celebration of Doris' life will be held April 30, 2022 from 1-4pm at Northwinds Banquet Hall in Marion. Inurnment will take place at Greenleaf Cemetery in Marion.
