Dorothy V. Linke, age 88 years, formerly of Tigerton, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Homme Home of Wittenberg, where she had been a resident for the past four years.
The former Dorothy Violet Kersten was born October 23, 1917 in Wittenberg to the late Frank and Martha (Zeinert) Kersten. She graduated from Wittenberg High School in 1935 and was united in marriage on May 14, 1938 to Leonard T. Linke in Wittenberg. Dorothy was a homemaker for the majority of her life. However, in her early years she worked as a stenographer at Citizen's State Bank, Wittenberg, then she was employed as a nurse's aide at Cady Home of Birnamwood and at the Tigerton Hospital. The couple lived in the Tigerton area for many years and her husband preceded her in death March 26, 1982. Dorothy is a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, playing cards with friends, and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include four children; Don (Sandy) Linke of Eland, Bob (Deborah) Linke of Wittenberg, Tom (Betty) Linke of Tigerton, and Linda (Ken) Rasmussen of Marshfield. One sister-in-law, Delores Kersten of Rhinelander. There are 15 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Further survived by many other relatives and friends. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, a son, John, two sisters, Edna Brown & Marcella Trebus, a granddaughter, Cindy Linke, and two great grandsons, Brad & Tyler Linke.
Funeral service will be Friday, May 19th at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Rev. Clifford Kessen will officiate. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. The Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, is assisting the family.
