Duane Miller Obituary

Duane R. Miller, age 94 of the Township of Larrabee, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Care Partners Assisted Living of Clintonville.

Duane Rudolph Miller was born February 7, 1928 in the Town of Dupont, Waupaca County, son to the late Gust & Minnie (Krueger) Miller. He attended Pioneer Grade School, the one-room schoolhouse in the Town of Dupont; later graduating from Marion High School. Duane enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a SSG with an artillery unit in Alaska. After an honorable discharge, Duane moved back to the area and started his cheese-making career at Quarterline Cheese. Duane was united in marriage to Joyce Arndt on July 17, 1954 at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville. He later owned and operated Oak Grove Cheese in the Town of Pella from 1958 to 1972. After selling Oak Grove, he bought a dairy farm to run with his family. He also started in the tavern business by purchasing two local establishments over the years, calling them Miller’s Bar. Duane later purchased Stephensville Cheese and ran that for a time; later retiring in 1996. Duane was a hard-worker his entire life, helping on the farm with his family even after retirement. He loved to read his newspaper and socialize with friends and family. He could carry on a conversation with anyone and enjoyed being around people. “How sweet it is!” - Duane Miller
