Edward "Ed" Grunewald Obituary

Edward “Ed” A. Grunewald, age 64 of Shawano, passed away at his home Thursday morning May 15, 2025.

Edward Allen Grunewald was born in Clintonville on September 4, 1960 as the son of the late Gustave Jr. and Virginia (Pevonka) Grunewald. Ed graduated from Marion High School with the Class of 1979 and during his high school years began working for Anton Excavating in Embarrass. Ed then went on to diesel mechanic school and upon his return home, worked on the family farm along with continuing his career with Anton Excavating until just recently stepping down as his health deteriorated. Aside from all that, many may remember Ed from his many years of dealing blackjack at the Menominee Casino in Keshena. He loved to visit with the customers and eventually moved to a role with the casino security. Ed definitely liked to do things his way and his family joked that he was always right, no matter how wrong he was. You would be hard pressed to find a more giving person than him though as he spent many hours planting and working in his gardens to have produce to share with family and friends. Ed was the best at keeping track of birthdays and made sure to call and wish everyone a happy birthday on their special day. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing in God’s creation.

Survivors include:
His Sisters: Mary Zahn, Margaret (Terry) Gott, and Julie Grunewald.
Sisters-in-law: Carol and Iris Grunewald.
Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents Gustave Jr. and Virginia, brothers Henry, William, and another in infancy, and by a brother-in-law Dale Zahn.

A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held on Saturday June 14, 2025 from 12pm to 3pm at Hopper's Bar (back shed) in Pella.. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory of Clintonville is assisting his family. www.eberhardtstevenson.com
