Edythe L. (Hunt) O'Brien

Edythe L. O’Brien, age 91 of DePere, formerly of Clintonville passed away peacefully surrounded by family Tuesday evening, December 31, 2019 at Sage Meadow in DePere.

Edythe was born on January 19, 1928 in Sheboygan as the daughter of the late Julius and Marie (Laucher) Hunt. Edythe was united in marriage to Alfred O’Brien and the couple resided in the Milwaukee area where Edythe worked as a waitress for various establishments. After Alfred’s passing, Edythe moved to Clintonville in the 1980s. Children were at the center of Edythe’s heart. She loved babysitting for a number of children in the Clintonville area which she affectionately referred to as her “2nd family”. In her spare time Edythe enjoyed crocheting, collecting cookbooks, and feeding the birds; especially her pet cockatiels Peaches & Sweetie Pie. She had a soft spot for all animals with special interest in butterflies and cardinals.  

Survivors include:

Her Daughters: Judy (Dwight) Reimer, Jodi (Mel) Taylor, & Karynne (Tony) Crosby.

A Son: Gordon Jacobs.

A Daughter-in-law: Sheryl Bogatin.

Grandchildren: Kelly Jo (Neil) Wozniak, Steven (Susan) Reimer, Carson Taylor, Anthony, Bobbie, Mindy, & Holly (Juan) Morales.

Great-Grandchildren: Luke, Milinda, Tyler, Linze, Kaylee, Ethan, Morgan, Hanna, Bethany, Chosie, Lucas, Analia “My pretty little girl”, & Juanito “My handsome little boy”.

Great-Great-Grandchildren: Caspin, Jack, & Kylo.

Also very special friends: Teri Malcki, Tom & Kim and family as well as Sandy & Al and family, Celena, and Autumn.

Edythe was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred O’Brien, a son Ronald Bogatin, and a great-granddaughter Estrellita.

Edythe’s memorial service will be held Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 1 PM at the Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville with Rev. Brian Crocker officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 12 PM until the time of the service.
