Eleanor P. Richter, age 90 of the Town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County passed away at her home under hospice care early Sunday morning June 14, 2020.
Eleanor Patricia Cummings was born on January 27, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Regina (Dewyer) Cummings. Eleanor graduated from Clintonville High School in 1948 and was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Allen Richter, on June 13, 1951 in Clintonville. The couple resided in the Town of Matteson prior to moving to Belle Plaine in 1958 where they have lived since. Eleanor’s life revolved around her faith, family, and nursing career. She worked as a nurse’s aide for Pine Manor Health Care Center (now The Pines) in Embarrass for 10 years and would later continue as a home healthcare nurse for over 20 years. Eleanor was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church in Clintonville where she served with the Rachel Circle and as superintendent and teacher for the Sunday School program. Eleanor absolutely loved gardening and spent lots of her free time watering her garden with her jeep and canning her produce. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake cookies. Eleanor had a soft spot for animals; rehabbing many injured pets over the years. She also raised chickens, played Bingo, enjoyed a good game of Smear, and looked forward to scenic car rides with Allen and their good friend Mae Myer. Above all, her strong faith and good sense of humor allowed her to be a great mother figure to her entire family, not just her own children.
