Elizabeth M. Berkholtz, age 74 of Ogdensburg, Township of Helvetia, Waupaca County passed away Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Elizabeth was born on January 10, 1947 in Renfrew, Scotland as the daughter of the late Sinclair and Christine (Duff) MacPhail. At a young age, Elizabeth and her family moved to Waukesha. While studying at UW River Falls, Elizabeth met Jerome “Jerry” C. Berkholtz and the couple were wed on August 24, 1968 in Milwaukee. Elizabeth graduated from UW River Falls with a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science and after marriage became the head Librarian at the Iola Library; retiring in 2000. Elizabeth and Jerry enjoyed traveling together; especially their trip to Europe soon after marriage to visit Elizabeth’s homeland. The couple designed and constructed Glen Cairn Golf Course together. Elizabeth enjoyed running the clubhouse and eventually passed the operations down to her family. She was a lover of chocolate, books, and animals.
Her Sons: Charles “Tanner” (Tracy Doherty) Berkholtz & Christian (Christy) Berkholtz.
Also numerous other family members and friends as well as her dog Nikey.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry in 2007, a sister Grace (George) Reese, and an Aunt Eleanor (Don) Holub.
A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held Friday, March 5, 2021 from 3-6pm at the Glen Cairn Clubhouse. If so compelled, please feel free to make a donation to your local library in Elizabeth’s memory.
