Eugene Mehlberg Obituary

Eugene H. Mehlberg, age 86 of the Township of Belle Plaine, passed away on Friday afternoon March 8, 2024 at ThedaCare Medical Center, Shawano.

Eugene Herbert Mehlberg was born October 26, 1937 in Shawano, WI, son to the late Fred & Irene (Haufe) Mehlberg. He graduated from Marion High School with the class of 1955 and joined the U.S. Air Force. After serving at McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey, Eugene was honorably discharged in 1959, and moved back to the area. He was united in marriage to Helen May Koeller on June 3, 1961 at St. James Lutheran Church, Shawano. Eugene worked as a manager at multiple locations of Automotive Supply Parts Stores for over 25 years . He also worked at Simmons Juvenile Products, New London for a time. As an active member of St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville, Eugene served on the Board of Elders and as a Trustee. He also was community-minded by serving as president of both the Cloverleaf Lakes Protective Association and the Aid Association for Lutherans Branch 496. He enjoyed snowmobiling in his younger years and wood-working later in life; making ornaments and various other projects for friends and family. Eugene also had a huge passion for ancestry. The web of his family tree project spanned over 367,000 names and the research involved was impressive. It also showcased the methodical manner in which he tackled all of his projects.
