Eugene D. Osterberg, age 86 of Clintonville passed away Monday evening November 11, 2024 at Care Partner’s Assisted Living in Clintonville.
Eugene David Osterberg was born on September 12, 1938 in Phelps as the son of the late Nesley and Sophie (Leilekaus) Osterberg. He was raised in Conover and graduated from Eagle River High School in 1956. Eugene was united in marriage to Janet Bennett on May 6, 1961 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Eagle River. For a number of years Eugene worked as a self employed carpenter and then for Merkel Construction in Eagle River prior to moving to Clintonville in 1990. There he began working at Simmons Juvenile Products in New London for 13 years until his retirement in 2003. The couple were faithful members of St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville. Eugene loved being outdoors; especially deer hunting, fishing, and bird hunting. He also followed the Monico Baseball Team closely and never missed one of his children’s sporting events.

His children: Carrie (Brad) Ort, Peggy (John “Sonny”) Artz, and David (Kay) Osterberg.
Grandchildren: Joshua (Jessie) Ort, Jason (Joanna) Ort, Bradley (Nikki) Ort, Logan (McKenna) Artz, Amber (Tyler) Baurain, Shawna Tobin, Micah Osterberg, Westley Osterberg, Alaina Osterberg, and Timmy Kananman.
Great-Grandchildren: Ariana, Autumn, Bailey, Riley, Faith, Lily, Granger, Grant, Cooper, and Donovan.
A Sister: Bonnie Champeny.
A Brother-in-law: Dean (Karen) Bennett.
Also nieces and nephews.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janet in 2015, grandson David Osterberg, Jr., sister Barbara (Russell) Vold, in-laws George and Bernice Bennett, a brother-in-law Bernie Bennett, and a nephew Scott Bennett.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Eugene on Saturday November 16, 2024 at 11am at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home South Location, 299 S. Main Street, Clintonville, WI 54929 with Fr. Timothy Shillcox O. Praem officiating. Inurnment will take place at St. Rose Cemetery in Clintonville at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10am until the time of service. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Care Partners and ThedaCare at Home Hospice for all of their help. In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated for the Tunnel To Towers Foundation which assists wounded veterans. www.eberhardtstevenson.com
