Forrest "Woody" Faulkes, age 76, of 408 Much Street, Marion, passed away Monday, May 15, 2006 at St. Joseph Residence, New London, where he had been a resident for one week.
Forrest Elmore Faulkes was born November 6, 1929 at Dodgeville, WI., and was the son of the late Burton and Rowena (Wilson) Faulkes. He was lovingly raised by his aunt and uncle, Ethel and Charles Norton and their family. Woody served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was then united in marriage to Lois Spink on May 19, 1956 at Oregon, WI. He attended technical school, learning the electric power distribution industry, and was employed by Wisconsin Power & Light Co., now known as Alliant Energy. Woody worked at various locations in southern Wisconsin before moving with his family to Marion, in August of 1970. He retired in 1988 after 39 years of service with the company. Woody was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Marion, and was active in his church serving on parish council and other positions. He was past-president of the Marion Lions Club, served as Boy Scout and Cub Scout Leader, and past member of the Marion Fire Department. His special interests included his family, camping, woodworking, the "Steam Family", and his "coffee group" friends each day.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lois, a son, Steve (Cindy) Faulkes, Arena, WI., a son, Tim (Joanne) Faulkes, Madison, WI., a daughter, Barbara (Jim) Wilichowski, Marathon, WI., a daughter, Jan (Spec. friend, Steve Duba) Franc, Boulder Jct., WI., and David (Thomasina) Faulkes, Berlin, WI. There are 11 grandchildren, Brooke, Jeremy, Josh, Jes, Jackie, Ashley, Logan, Hannah, Niles, Spencer, and Grace. Also there is one sister, Carol (LaVerne) Bolstad, Madison, WI. Woody was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, and Ethel and Charles Norton.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 19, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marion. Rev. John W. Girotti will officiate, with burial in St. Mary Church Cemetery, Marion. Military graveside rites will be provided by American Legion Post #198, Marion. Friends may call Thursday, May 18, 2006 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the BeiL-Didier Funeral Home, Marion, and Friday at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the services at the church.
