He graduated from Clintonville High School with the class of 1953; later enlisting in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, stationed in Germany. After an honorable discharge from service, Gerald moved to Steger, IL where he started his career with the Ford Motor Company in salvage repair, a career he enjoyed. He was united in marriage to Dianna (Glassner) Bruette in Park Forest on Nov. 22, 1958. After a career of over 30 years at Ford, they decided to move back to Clintonville in the mid-1980s where he built a house on his parents property in the Township of Larrabee. A regular at Badger Tap, Embarrass, Gerald was known as the “Lucky Jerry,” because he always seemed to win raffle prizes for many local drawings.
