Gladys Kautz Obituary

Gladys V. Kautz, age 97 of Clintonville, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at her home.

Gladys Violet Kautz was born January 6, 1922 on the family farm near Tigerton, WI; she was the 3rd child of the late Herman & Emma (Repchenski) Kautz. She graduated from Tigerton grade school, attended Tigerton High School for two years, and later graduated from Marion High School in 1940. Gladys moved to the Milwaukee area where she was a waitress for a time, and later started working as a secretary for Blue Cross Insurance, retiring after 30 years. Her vacations were spent traveling throughout the U.S., along with one tour of the European countries. Gladys loved attending theater and concert performances. She also really enjoyed reading novels with historical backgrounds. Gladys moved to Clintonville in 1983 so she could be closer to her brother, Leo and his family. She loved her flowers and had a big garden with apple and pears trees, of which she shared the bounty with many. She took knitting and painting classes and volunteered at St. Martin School Library. Above all, she loved her Lord and Savior. Her faith was so important to her, and her example of a true Christian lady was shown in how she lived life everyday. Although she never married or had children of her own; she was like a “2nd God-given Mother” to her nephews and niece which include:

Nephews: Richard (deceased) and Sharon Kautz and their family: Tammy and Linda; Lori and Dan; and her son, Elliot, and his son Drayton and Rick and his family.
Ronald (deceased) and Mary Kautz and their family: Karrie and Eric and sons Tyler and Tanner; Kristal and David and family Samuel and Elliana; and Ryon and Jodie and their family: Bryson, Peyton, and Sydney.
Gary and Kristen Kautz and her family: Megan, Nigel, Elliot, and Effie.

Niece: Karmen Kautz and sons: Greg and Jeff Schertz.

At Christmas time, “Auntie Glady” loved to travel to Phoenix, AZ to visit with her niece and God child, Jynnine (deceased) and Clyde Fauss, and her great-niece and God-daughter: Misty and Andy McCright and her sons, Samuel and Matthew Martinez.

Gladys was a very kind, caring, giving, loving “Auntie” to all. We will miss her so much.

A special thank you to her church friends at St. Martin for all your help. To Sandy, her “taxi lady” who helped her so much and was so kind to her. The hospice nurses who cared for her so kindly and gently, helping her to keep her dignity through death and remain in her own home. Also, thank you to Pastor Brian Weber for his visits to her home.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Leo and Blanche Kautz; her sisters, Margaret and her two husbands, Richard Poppe and Clint Idhe, and Virginia and Henry Regauld; along with several cousins and friends.
