Gladys Meyer Obituary

Gladys V. Meyer, age 87 of the Town of Bear Creek, Waupaca County passed away peacefully on Monday November 29, 2021 at The Pines in Embarrass.

Gladys was born on October 29, 1934 in Bear Creek as the daughter of the late Alfred and Anna (Stadler) Roberts. She met Clyde Meyer while they were in 9th Grade and won him over by sneaking him some peanut butter cookies during her home economics class.  The couple were united in marriage on June 27, 1951 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bear Creek. Gladys and Clyde then made their home in the Town of Deer Creek prior to moving to their current residence in 1962. Gladys was the quintessential homemaker. The couple had 11 children that she loved dearly and that generated 31 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren throughout Gladys’ life. She loved to read, collect “treasures”, can the produce from her garden, and spent lots of time tending to her flower garden. She had almost and acre of Irises, Lilies, and Gladiolas. Gladys was a loving wife for 70 years and a wonderful mother and grandmother.

Survivors include: Her Husband: Clyde Meyer.

Children: Lucy (Carl) Koeller, Steve (Karen) Meyer, Kim (Debbie) Meyer, Mark Meyer, Matt (Nancy) Meyer, Dewey (Kimberly) Meyer, David (Nancy) Meyer, James (Jennifer) Meyer, Sarah (Robert) Lederer, and Penny (Brad) Arft.

Grandchildren: Nicole Buol, Lori (Wayne) Sapp, Julie (Jason) Olson, Kirk (Kassi) Meyer, Holly (Brad) Kluz, Derek (Cheryl) Meyer, Valerie (Jeremy) Smith, Jacob Meyer, Billy Meyer, James Anderson, Jason Anderson, Amanda (Kurt VanRens) Doering, Eric (Fiance Laura) Meyer, Samantha (Jimmy Keltch) Meyer, Jennifer (Josh) Spangler, Cody (Jenna) Meyer, Cheyenne (Andrew Mackrie) Meyer, Kaleb (Emily Krier) Meyer, Alicia (Andy) Hartwig, Hannah Meyer, Katie Meyer, Steven (Stephanie) Hidde, Nathan (Eryn) Hidde, Emma Kumm, Madeline Meyer, Reed Meyer, Alexander Lederer, Cora Lederer, Rebekah Lederer, Ethan Shaw, and Andrew Shaw.

Great-Grandchildren: Jeremay, Jace, April, Brianna, Morgan, Parker, Brooklyn, Jennifer, Austin, Aiden, Devon, Kylie, Sierra, Logan, Dustin, Matthew, James, Aiden, Jace, Graham, Raelynn, Camdyn, and Nora.

Her Siblings: John (Joan) Roberts and Laura (Richard) Kuehn.
Also a Brother-in-law: Wesley (Mickey) Meyer and numerous other relatives.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Diane Meyer, grandson-in-law Jeremay Buol, brothers Francis, Tom, Fabian, James, and Paul, sisters Anna Burch and Joyce Stilen, and brothers-in-law Leon (Bina) Meyer and Duane (Alice) Meyer.

Gladys’ funeral service will be held Saturday December 4, 2021 at 11 AM at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, 53 N. Main Street, Clintonville with Chaplain Karin Derenne officiating. Interment will follow at the Danish Cemetery in the Town of Deer Creek. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of service and the service will be live streamed on the Eberhardt-Stevenson Facebook page. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established by the Meyer family. They would also like to thank the staff at The Pines, ThedaCare at Home Hospice, and Hospice Chaplain Karin for the wonderful care Gladys received.
