Gladys M. Wichmann, age 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 21 at Aster Assisted Living Facility, Clintonville, WI.

She was born on July 24, 1927, the first of seven children of Marcus and Sophia Suehring in the Town of Grant, Shawano County. She attended Shawano High School for three years and graduated from Bowler High School in 1947.

Gladys met Harvey Wichmann post-WWII and they were married on May 28, 1949 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Town of Grant, settling at the Wichmann family farm after.
In 1964, Gladys started a new career path at Clintonville Community Hospital in the office. She retired in 1989.
Gladys and Harvey enjoyed many trips during their 40 years together, until his passing in 1989. They also enjoyed bowling league, church choir and took up golfing. Gladys was very active in the Caroline Legion Auxiliary, as an officer and volunteer extraordinaire (always offering her world famous potato salad for events), and also volunteered at Zion Church on the Alter Guild.

In 1994 she moved from the Wichmann farm to Marion until 2015 when, for health reasons, she became a resident of Aster Assisted Living in Clintonville.

Survivors include her children Alan (Margery) Wichmann, Mike (Rose) Wichmann, and Mary (Dave) Willems. She is further survived by her 7 grandchildren Angela (Mark) Binsfeld, Allison (Lars) Petersen, Ryan (Alyssa) Wichmann, Annika (Neil) Wichmann Bland, Bergetta (Joey) Stilen, Kimberly Willems and Paul Willems, and great-grandchildren Breck and Maia Binsfeld; Ellise, Leif and Olen Petersen; Harvey and Scarlett Wichmann and James Stilen. Surviving siblings include: James (Rosalie) Suehring, Carol Hidde, Sally (Gregg) Janicek and Pat (Doug) Tietz. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey, her parents, brother Jerry and sister Jeanette, brother- and sister-in-law Vilas and Lorian Wichmann; brother-in-law Rudy Hidde, nephew William Hidde, niece Lori Conners and father- and mother-in-law Paul and Bertha Wichmann.

There will be a visitation open to the public for Gladys on Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 12 PM to 1 PM at the Zion Lutheran Church in Caroline.
