James F. Olson, age 73 of Shawano, passed away on Saturday morning, May 29, 2021 in the Township of Belle Plaine.
James Floyd Olson was born April 30, 1948 in Clintonville, WI, son to the late Floyd & Velda (Gruetzmacher) Olson. He graduated from Clintonville High School and was later drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After returning home, James worked at the F.W.D. Corporation, Clintonville as a welder for over 20 years; he later worked for Schutt Industries, Clintonville until his retirement. He was united in marriage to Pansy Arndt in Menominee, MI on March 22, 1976. James was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Township of Herman, Shawano County. He loved coon hunting with Kelly and Sherry and raising coon dogs; he also enjoyed trapping, fishing, and day trips to the local casinos. James liked to watch the New York Yankees and the Wisconsin Badgers. He will be remembered as a quiet, reserved man who kept himself busy, but always had time for family.
James is survived by his daughters: Wendy Degener, Sherry (Paul) Huntington, & Kelly (Todd) Hoffman, all of Shawano
Grandchildren: Brice (Jaime) Huntington, Breanne (Jeff Vande Bogart) Huntington, Brooke (Josh Rouse) Huntington, Bronson (Dartania Heinz) Huntington, Brynn (Dustin) Tomas, Hilary (Eric) Hetzel, & Hunter (Shannon Wilson) Hoffman
Great-grandchildren: Payton, Carter, & Sawyer Huntington, Brystol & Judson Vande Bogart, Emma Huntington, and another two great-grandchildren due in November and December.
Sisters: Joanne (Gerald) Desens, Jean (Ed) Schoenheide, Jane (Ronald) Jokippi, & Janice Bleck
Brother-in-law: Donald Fields
James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pansy; & his sister Judy Fields.
A private memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church – Hermansfort, Township of Herman, with the Rev. Steven Conradt officiating. Inurnment will take place at the parish cemetery following the service.
The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville is assisting the Olson family with arrangements.
