James "Jim" Edwin Flink

James “Jim” E. Flink, age 85 of Marion, passed away Monday, November 12, 2018, at his home.

James “Jim” Edwin Flink was born April 6, 1933 in Clintonville, WI to parents, Edwin and Linda (Frailing) Flink. He graduated from Clintonville High School in 1951; after graduation he worked alongside his father on the family farm in the township of Union. On August 1, 1953 he married Sally Brandenburg. Jim and Sally worked together on the family farm; during this time Jim also worked at the FWD in Clintonville. Later, he was employed at Marion Feed and Grain. Jim partnered with Walter Oehlke at the mill in 1968; and eventually took over full ownership in August of 1973, later retiring on January 3, 1991. In 1971, he moved his family into the beautiful home on Ramsdell Street in Marion, which Jim, his son Mike, his father Edwin, and father-in-law, Leonard built together. Jim and Sally later purchased the Marion Liquor Store, and the family worked side by side operating both the liquor store and the feed mill until retirement. On June 1, 1977 he was voted onto the county board. He served in this capacity until April 17, 2012. He enjoyed his many years serving on the board and often spoke of the great friendships he made with county employees and board members. Jim and Sally often attended the social events that were held for the current and past board members, and thoroughly enjoyed staying in touch with many of them over the years. He had a love for playing cards with Sally and their friends, and enjoyed bowling, golfing and fishing. In his later years, Jim enjoyed driving the country side watching farmers harvest their crops, and stopping in at his kids’ homes and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jim was also a great cook and loved the opportunities to cook during the holidays. His homemade chex-mix was a hit for many.

Daughter-in-law: Jill Flink, Marion
Grandchildren: Jeff (Jessica Parker) Flink, Jr., Sarah (Louis) Jarvais, Ashley (Jeremy King) Flink, Mark (Megan) Brei, and Andrew & Brett Brei
Great-Grandchildren:  Cameron Flink & Savannah Ross, Lexi & Danica Jarvais, Luke & Logan Brei, and Brielle King 

James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sally; a son, Mike Flink; a son in infancy; and sister, Virginia (Milton) Polzin.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 2 – 6 PM on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Northwinds Banquet Hall: 1103 N. Main St. Marion, WI 54950.
