James "Jim" Krause Obituary

James (Jim) A. Krause passed away peacefully on April 23 rd 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Jim showed incredible resilience during his 4 year battle with cancer. 

James Arthur Krause was born on March 23, 1944 in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin to the late Olga and Lyman Krause.  He graduated from Gillett High School, class of 1962.  Three days after graduation he left for the Great Lakes Naval Training Center and served 4 years and 4 months in the Navy.  He served aboard the USS Lake Champlain, USS Springfield and the USS Steinaker. 

He met the love of his life, Gloria Le Blanc, in Guilford, Connecticut.  They were wed on March 7, 1964 in Elizabeth City North Carolina.  He joined the Guilford Police Force when he left the Navy and served there for 4 years.  During these years, Jim and Gloria welcomed their son, Mitch, and daughters Wendy and Julia.  In 1970 he moved his family to Clintonville where he served on the Clintonville Police Department until 1993.  Jim rose to the rank of Lieutenant.  He then became the Police Department Investigator.  

Jim was very active at Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville.  He volunteered regularly as an usher and provided guidance for the property committee.  He was also a talented and prolific woodworker creating many projects over the years. 

Survivors include: His loving wife: Gloria Krause.
Daughters: Julia (Claus) Michelsen & Wendy (Pete Ullman) Krause.
Forever-Daughter-in-Law: Jean Ward. 
Grandchildren: Kyle Krause, Dalton Krause, Caden Krause-Ullman, Conner (Fiance Cassie Martin) Michelsen, Kai Michelsen, Amanda (Gabe Antiel) Boegh, & Lydia Krause-Ullman.
Great-Grandchildren: Eben, Ethan, Samara, Eva, Elijah, & Emma Rose.
Also numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his son Mitchell Krause, a brother Gerald Krause, and a sister Sandra (Jim) Ostrowski.

Jim’s memorial service will be held Saturday May 16, 2026 at 11am at the Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville with Rev. Brian Crocker officiating. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in the Town of Matteson, Waupaca County with military honors conducted by members of the Clintonville American Legion Post #63, VFW Post #664, American Legion Auxiliary Unit #63, and D.A.V. Chapter #53. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday May 16, 2026 from 9am until the time of the service.
