Janice A. Schroeder, age 81 of the Town of Matteson, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday March 10th, 2022 surrounded by family.
Janice Ann Schroeder was born on February 4th, 1941 in Town of Bear Creek, to the late Harry and Meta (Lichtenberg) Peterson. On July 8th, 1961 she was united in marriage to Gerald L. Schroeder at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bear Creek; they celebrated almost 61 years together. Janice had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a long-time member of St. Martin Lutheran Church. Gerald and Janice built their home just outside of Clintonville, WI where they raised their family. Janice grew up on a farm in the town of Bear Creek, WI. She loved baking, especially cookies. It was pretty much a guarantee that when the grandkids showed up Grandma would have a batch of cookies waiting. Within her circle of family and friends she was famous for her Christmas baked goods; there were always a variety of treats to enjoy. Janice was an avid bird watcher and squirrel chaser. She spent many hours enjoying her colorful backyard visitors and found several creative ways to keep the squirrels at bay. For many years she enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed spending time in the woods up near Bowler where the family has hunting land, a cabin, and more bird feeders. Other pastimes that Janice enjoyed were puzzling, word searches and watching her beloved Packers. Everyone close to her knew it was always family first unless the Packers were playing. More than once Thanksgiving was rescheduled to accommodate the Packers’ schedule.
Janice is survived by her husband Gerald, two daughters: Cindy (Mike) Johnson, Hortonville; Brenda (Scott) Dailey, New London; her grandchildren: Jared (Rita) Johnson; Jace Johnson; Torrie Dailey; Kelsie Dailey (Cody Keleske); her brothers: Marvin Peterson and Gary (Kathy) Peterson, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, a son Brian S. Schroeder, siblings: Virginia Splitt, Elaine Lahti, Leon Peterson, Ramona Splitt and Ruben Peterson.
Janice’s funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Tuesday, March 15th, 2022 at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville with Rev. Jason Zobel officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the church from 9 AM until the time of the service.
