Janice "Jan" Johnson Obituary

Janice “Jan” M. (Furrer) Johnson, age 88 of Clintonville, passed away peacefully on July 21st, 2022 at Appleton Medical Center surrounded by family.


Jan was born on January 31, 1934 in Waukesha as the 4th of 5 children to Mabel (Gross) and Walter Furrer. After high school she attended UW-Oshkosh where she met the love of her life, Gilbert J Johnson. Jan and Gib were united in marriage on June 30th, 1956, and celebrated nearly 60 years of life together. After graduating, Jan and Gib found jobs as teachers with the Clintonville school district. Jan taught 3rd and 2nd grade and after taking a few years off to raise their four children returned to teach Kindergarten for several years. She was a much loved teacher by many children. Jan was a faithful member of Christus Lutheran church for over 65 years and served a number of roles but will be remembered by many for her service in the choir and her beautiful and distinctive soprano voice. Jan was an avid Packers, Brewers and Badgers fan and rarely missed an opportunity to watch a game. Jan enjoyed several hobbies, some of her favorites included knitting and flower gardening. Jan was a loving, devoted and cherished mother, grandmother and great grandmother that will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.


Survivors include: 
Daughter: Jill (Randy) Bricco and their daughter Mariah (Adam) Pringnitz and great grandchildren Brock and Dannica Pringnitz.
Son: Jeff (Mary Jo) Johnson and their children Elisha (Alex) Tapplin and great grandchildren Greta and Anna Tapplin; Zach (Ashley) Johnson and great grandchildren Maci, Ryker and Kennedy Johnson; Aubrey Jo (Sean) DeVos and great grandchildren Ella and Lucy DeVos.
Son: Mike (Cindy) Johnson and their children Jared (Rita) and Jace.
Daughter: Amy (Brian) Perry and their daughters Brianna (Ben) Emanuel and great grandchild Brooks Emanuel; Alexis (Austin Mullins) Perry.
Siblings: Don (Ginny) Furrer of Waukesha and Sue Merten of Sun City, AZ.


Jan was preceded in death by her husband Gib, her sisters June Ehlke of Waukesha and Marge Bleavins of Phoenix, as well as her parents Walter and Mabel (Gross) Furrer of Waukesha.


A celebration of Jan's life will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 2pm at Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville with Rev. Brian Crocker officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 1pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Christus Lutheran Church.
