Joyce A. Pingel, age 74 of the Township of Larrabee, passed away early Thursday morning, May 28, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Joyce Ann (Laatsch) Pingel was born November 10, 1945, in Clintonville, WI, daughter to the late Edwin & Esther (Westphal) Laatsch. She attended school in Tigerton, later graduating from Tigerton High School in 1963. A 17 year-old Joyce wearing a beautiful blue dress, met Arlyn Pingel at a polka dance; the couple was later united in marriage on August 23, 1964, at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville. Joyce worked for Hansen Glove Factory, did piece work for Northern Upholstery, cooked at both Clintonville Riverside Golf Course & Vienna House, and also drove for Koeppen’s Medical Transport. She was an active, long-time member of St. Martin Lutheran Church; serving on Ladies Aid, singing with the choir, and teaching Sunday school. Cooking, and everything related, was Joyce’s specialty. She was an expert at planning the food for social gatherings, baked hundreds of cakes for weddings and special occasions, and canned everything from jams/jellies, sauces, fruits, vegetables, and pie filling. Given her skills with a needle, she often made clothes for her children when they were young, and loved making dresses for her granddaughters and great-granddaughters. Her creativity flowed through into other things like writing poems and arranging flowers. Joyce only had a few opportunities to really travel far from home, but when she did, she made it count. This last year, she and Arlyn drove out west for the road trip of a lifetime, taking in Mount Rushmore, The Badlands, and many other points of interest. Joyce wanted to give her best to everyone she met; she had a great sense of humor, was accepting of others, and loved her family and friends tremendously.
