Joyce R. Kroening, age 91 of Stevens Point, formerly of Marion passed away Saturday evening June 4, 2022 at North Haven Assisted Living in Stevens Point under the care of Heartland Hospice.
Joyce Sawall was born on March 14, 1931 in the Town of Bear Creek as the daughter of the late Alvin and Rosetta (Roehl) Sawall. She grew up in the Bear Creek area and graduated from Clintonville High School. Joyce was united in marriage to Alex Kroening, Jr. on June 25, 1955 at Grace Lutheran Church in Sugar Bush. The couple resided in Marion where they were active members of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Joyce enjoyed volunteering her time at church and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Marion. She was a wonderful homemaker and also worked at Hansen Glove Factory in Clintonville, Grimm’s Steakhouse, and Ray’s United Foods both of Marion. Joyce looked forward to weekly bridge club gatherings, socializing with friends at her weekly coffee group, playing dominos, and working in her garden. Alex preceded his wife in death on December 22, 2014 and last year Joyce moved to North Haven Assisted Living in Stevens Point to be closer to her children. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will certainly be missed by her loved ones.

Her Children: Wayne (Toni) Kroening & Marla (Tim) Warchala.
Grandchildren: Raymond Tepp, and Cally & Claire Kroening.
Step-Grandchildren: Cassidy, Kaitlin, Sean, & Toni Warchala.
Brothers-in-law & Sisters-in-law: Harvey Kroening, Pearl Plauster, and Corinne Kroening.
Also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alex, a sister Donna Morack, brothers-in-law Marvin Kroening, Melvin Splittgerber, Martin Plauster, and Walter Morack, and sisters-in-law Opal Splittgerber, Linda Kroening, and Faye Krause.
Joyce’s memorial service will be held Friday June 10, 2022 at 11 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marion with Pastor Jenn Pockat officiating. Inurnment will take place at Greenleaf Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
