Lawrence "Larry" Prickette Obituary

Lawrence “Larry” D. Prickette, age 89 of Cecil, passed away on Wednesday morning January 24, 2024 at Birch Hill Health Services, Shawano.

Lawrence “Larry” Dale Prickette was born May 11, 1934 in Elcho, WI, son to the late Alfred & Arlene (Thurber) Prickette. He grew up on a farm near Antigo and at 11 years old, moved in with foster parents Cora & George Johnson after his parents divorced.  He lived on the farm until 1954 when he enlisted in the National Guard. Larry was united in marriage to Georgine Rae Tooley on November 26, 1955 at St. John’s Catholic Church. After transitioning into the Air Force full time, where he made a career with Air Force Intelligence, Larry served his country behind the scenes, helping provide other units with the information they needed to complete their missions. During his time in the military everyone he worked with affectionately called him “Shorty.” He served in Alaska, Japan, Florida, Wisconsin & Texas throughout his military career. He later retired in 1974 after 20 years of service.  Larry was a guide in Alaska for about six years, and also ran a charter boat in Florida for three years. He later worked at the Outagamie County’s Mosquito Hill Nature Center. Larry was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bear Creek from 1974 to 1995 where he served as a Eucaristic Minister. He later attended St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville where he was active with the Knights of Columbus. More recently, Larry and Georgine attended St. Martin of Tours Catholic Parish, Cecil. He was an outdoorsman to the core and enjoyed his time in nature hunting and fishing all around the world. Larry liked to joke around and pulled pranks on his children. He was very excited to make it to his 90th year as a child of God. He will be remembered as a friendly person who would help anyone who needed it.
