On September 21, 2024, LeRoy Uecker, 97, lifelong resident of “Peaceful Valley”, Caroline, Wisconsin, left this earth for the Peace of Heaven. There he joined his wife of 71 years, Bernice (Bevernitz) Uecker, who preceded him in 2019.
LeRoy (“Lee”) was born to Frieda (Watters) and William “Bill” Uecker on March 2, 1927. He had one sister, Elvera “Elvy” (Uecker) Smith. LeRoy graduated from Marion High School in 1944, served in the U.S. Navy and attended Milwaukee Area Business College. He then joined his father and mother in the family business, Caroline Service Garage. LeRoy ran the business for almost 50 years retiring in 2007. In his early years he enjoyed hunting grouse, pheasant and deer and was a keen student of baseball and the New York Yankees. LeRoy was a loyal Packer fan during the Glory Years regularly attending home games including the Ice Bowl. He spent many hours on his John Deere tractors developing and maintaining his Caroline property.
He is survived by their three children: Nancy Uecker, Mary Uecker-Gluth (& Gary Gluth), Jeffrey (& Jane) Uecker, grandchildren Timothy Uecker Gluth (Lisa Prechel) and Susan (David) McManus and five great-grandchildren.
LeRoy was a member of American Legion Post #456 and a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church, Caroline. He will be remembered for his ready smile and friendly personality. Many thanks and much gratitude to those who helped make it possible for LeRoy to live out his life in Peaceful Valley.
Keeping with LeRoy’s wishes, his family gathered privately to say their last goodbyes. “Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.” Alex MacLean
