LeRoy E. Zarling, age 80 of the Town of Larrabee, Waupaca County passed away surrounded by family at his home Tuesday morning, July 21, 2020.
LeRoy was born on October 5, 1939 in the Town of Matteson, Waupaca County as the son of the late Gustave and Nellie (Babino) Zarling. He grew up on his family’s farm in the Town of Matteson and attended Clintonville High School. LeRoy served his country as a heavy vehicle driver in the United States Army from July of 1958 until his discharge in July of 1961; serving not only here but also in both Germany and France. LeRoy was united in marriage to Marion Larsen in Shiocton. The couple had five children and later divorced. LeRoy spent his entire working career as a machinist at Seagrave FWD in Clintonville; retiring in 2001. He enjoyed keeping things simple and looked forward to mowing his lawn, fishing, gambling, baling hay and driving tractor at his daughter and son-in-law’s farm, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and watching NASCAR, the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers. LeRoy was happy to have one more get together with family and friends the day before he passed away and will remembered as spunky and witty right to the end.

His Children: Linda Gunderson, Laurie (Todd) Yaeger, Darlene (Don Jacobs) Hogan, Debbie (Derek Vos) Zarling, & Daryle (Danille) Zarling.
Grandchildren: Cassidy & Ryan Gunderson, Joshua (Nicole) Yaeger, Jeni (Aaron) Olson, Brittney (Charlie Konetzke) Hogan, Dalton Hogan, Cortney (Nick Schrieber), Chyanne (Logan Bunge), & Skylar Lockman, and Amber (Donald) Beechy.
Great-Grandchildren: Beau, Easton, Henley, Waylon, Noah, Nolan, Nathan, Grace, Faith, & Remi.
Sisters: Gladys Blankschien & Agnes Wege.
Also numerous nieces and nephews.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ella Phillips & Martha Schertz, a brother August “Bud” Zarling, and by his four legged friend Dewey.
A graveside committal service will be held for LeRoy at the Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville on Friday July 24, 2020 at 10 AM with Rev. Shelly Klemp officiating. Friends may meet at the cemetery just prior to the service. Military honors will be conducted following the committal by members of the American Legion Post 63, VFW Post 664, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 63 all of Clintonville.
