Leo M. Barnick

Leo M. Barnick, age 90 of Marion, passed away Tuesday morning February 23, 2021 at the ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.

Leo was born on March 6, 1930 in the Town of Dupont as the son of the late Albert and Martha (Wepner) Barnick. He graduated from Marion High School with the Class of 1948 and began farming in the Town of Dupont. On September 21, 1957 Leo was united in marriage to Sharon Draheim at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dupont. Together the couple had 3 children and later separated. Leo was a life-long member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he enjoyed playing in the dartball league. Farming was a huge part of who Leo was and he eventually retired and sold the cows on April 1, 1995. He could be quite a jokester at times and looked forward to spending weekends up north. In his spare time Leo could be found playing Sheephead and Thirty-One at local establishments, hunting deer, or wetting a line at his favorite fishing hole.

His Children: Sherry (Darold) Raasch, Tim (Linda Szyperek) Barnick, and Tom (Tami Miller) Barnick.

Grandchildren: Lindsey (Al) Lautenschlager, Jacque (Patrick) Neph, Ethan & Evan Barnick, Lexi & Tom, Levi (Ava Mais) Barnick, Brice Miller, and Ellen Radies.

Great-Grandchildren: Jabril and Jacobi Barnick, and Greyson Brandenburg.
A Sister-in-law: Carol Barnick.
Also numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leonard, Herbert, Arthur, and Armin, and sisters Cora Fietzer and Ruby Niemuth.

Leo’s funeral service will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 3 PM at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Dupont with Rev. Karen Riemer officiating. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 1 PM until the time of the service. Interment will take place at a future date at Roseland Cemetery also in Dupont.
