Lillian E. Smith, age 92 years, of Sunrise Rd., Tigerton passed away Sunday May 7, 2006 at her residence.
The former Lillian Evangeline Johnson was born January 12, 1914 in Sandstone, MN. to Andrew and Selma (Knute) Johnson. She was raised in Superior, WI. and was united in marriage on Feb. 29, 1936 to Peter "Bill" Smith in Duluth, MN. The couple made their home in Superior and her husband preceded her in death in 1983. In the fall of 1983 she settled in Tigerton with her daughter. She is a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Lillian was an avid reader, she also enjoyed crossword puzzles, and loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Joanne (Jerry) Morrison of New Berlin and Pat (Walt) Barker of Tigerton. Six grandchildren; Wendy (Allen) Reid of Kelowna, British Columbia, David (Marci) Barker of Oshkosh, NE, Nanette (Timm) Schernecker of Lake Mills, WI, Gina (Eric) Buss of Minneapolis, MN, John (Elizabeth) Barker of Maple Grove, MN, and Angela (Brian) Weber of Weston. Eleven great grandchildren; Jennifer, Bradley, Amanda, Erica, Derek, Ashley, Brittany, Michael, Ben, Jack and Anna. Six step great grandchildren; Andrea, David, Viki, Tessa, Tara and Brooke. Further survived by one great-great granddaughter, Lily Ann, a sister-in-law, Violet Johnson of Franklin, WI, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Lillian was preceded in death by husband and two brothers, Alan & Robert Johnson.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 10th at 5:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Rev. Clifford Kessen will officiate. Burial will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the church. The Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, is assisting the family.
