Lorraine Olson Obituary

On Monday, September 26, 2022, Lorraine “Rainy” T. (McClone) Olson, age 94, passed away peacefully at Care Partners Assisted Living in Clintonville, Wisconsin.

Rainy was the first-born daughter of seven children to Amy and James McClone on January 5, 1928, on a farm outside of Clintonville in the Township of Matteson, Waupaca County, Wisconsin.  She attended a one-room rural school through 8th grade and continued on to graduate from Clintonville High School.  After high school, she worked secretarial jobs for a few years, including some in Chicago, Illinois. Rainy returned to Clintonville to marry Robert “Bob” Olson on July 16, 1952. A few years later Rainy and Bob moved to Embarrass, Wisconsin to raise their ever-growing family in the big white house on the corner by the park.

Rainy stayed busy being the Mom for her four children, as well as, many of the other village youngsters affectionately known as “river rats”.  She played various roles such as caregiver, 4-H leader/teacher, homework helper, chauffeur, and cheerleader. This amazing woman also made time to help Bob with his village clerk duties and to volunteer for many Embarrass Fire Department events. Once her children were older, Rainy returned to work at the Ockerlander dentist office in Clintonville, as well as, as an election worker for Embarrass elections.

Along with raising children, Rainy and Bob found time to enjoy extended family and friends with many get-togethers for celebrations, card playing, Packer games, holiday walk-arounds, casino runs and travels.  Rainy was a fierce friend as part of the “cronies” and enjoyed being a member of the card club. Christmas at the Olson’s was a cherished tradition that her grandchildren will always remember, especially the molasses cookies. Rainy was a lifelong member and volunteer of St. Rose Catholic Church of Clintonville.  She was a devoted daughter, daughter-in-law, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Rainy did so much for so many in her long, fulfilling life. She certainly lived her life in service to others.

Lorraine “Rainy” is survived by:
