Obituary

Louis A. Kutchenriter, age 89 of the Township of Union, passed away on Wednesday March 29, 2023 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Neenah.

Louis Arnold Kutchenriter was born August 1, 1933 in the Township of Matteson, son to the late Gustave & Louise (Thielke) Kutchenriter; and was baptized and later confirmed at Christus Lutheran Church. The family moved around a lot in his childhood years and Louis attended a few different one-room school houses. His family was large and of meager means, so at 14 years old, Louis left home to work full time on some dairy farms owned by his extended family. He was later united in marriage to Myrtle Trettin on August 29, 1959 at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville, where Louis was a life-long member. The newlyweds, at this time, operated their own dairy farm for many years in the Town of Union, until they sold the animals in 1984. They then adjusted their efforts to focus on veal farming, which Louis really enjoyed. The farming days drew to a close in 1998 and he worked for Dennison Building for a time as well as helping at a local saw mill. Later, Louis fully retired and enjoyed his days “puttering” around home with the occasional woodworking project to complete. He enjoyed field work and gardening. At church, Louis helped with communion serving/cleanup and was active with the church’s Herald Newsletter. He also enjoyed some traveling; a trip out west to Wyoming, mystery day trips with “Have Group, Will Travel,” and nights out with Myrtle and friends to the Fireside Dinner Theater in Fort Atkinson. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved to feed the birds. Louis will be remembered as a hard-worker, a bit of a prankster/kidder with friends, but also had a pleasant, gentle nature; and taught his family be strong and self-sufficient.
